Moon Garden Old Town Hotel

Excellent location to access the restaurants, cafes and the important sights of the Old Town. Very close to the Central Train Station, trolkey buses and the Market. Comfortable beds, modern bathroom. The breakfast was fine. It had everything you'd expect. We were given clear instructions, in advance, to access the front door and room door - this was because we arrived after 8pm when the reception staff leave for the night.

This is an old building that has been refurbished. The foyer is modern and clean. My room - 301- had a great bathroom but the bedroom furniture was old fashioned and the room felt tacky. Old curtains and a bottom sheet that didn't fit the 2 single beds that were pushed together. Only 1 pillow per bed apart from 2 small decorative pillows. Room 301 has a terrace but the view was not attractive and it had basic furniture. When I mentioned this to reception they did offer to move us to another room but it was too much effort for one more night. I asked to see other rooms in the hotel and they were considerably better. The Family Room on Floor 1 near the elevator had a sofa (convertible), kitchette and a bathroom with a washing machine. Very roomy - but it is a Family Room. I think there are 4 of them and a couple can book them. I had an issue with the breakfast. There are 2 types of cups. The base on the larger cup doesn't fit the saucer. This wasn't clear until I started walking with it to the table where the milk was. I had made tea and needed milk. The cup toppled off and I scaulded my hand. It was initially quite painful but as the day went on it improved. I took the cup and saucer to reception and showed them what happened. They were very apologetic. I suggested they remove those cups and also put a jug of milk near to where you make the tea - this had been done by the next morning. So they were quick to respond to my complaint. The reception staff speak excellent English and were very helpful.

Only 15 mins walk from Vilnius central station and from the old town. Very friendly reception, they allowed me to check in early, the room was light and quite big. The bed was very comfy and the pillows too. I left before breakfast so can’t comment on that. I thought it was really good value for money

The shower was slow to drain out, so I had to keep turning the water off in case I flooded the bathroom

We stayed in a spacious studio room with a small kitchenette. The location is superb, with a supermarket nearby, and the breakfast had a nice variety. Our room also had a Lavazza coffee machine, and there is a free coffee machine available in the lobby, which was a nice touch.

The main issue was sleeping comfort. The mattress was very hard and seemed to lack a proper comfort layer, so we could actually feel the springs. The pillows were also extremely firm. For light sleepers, it is also worth noting that in our room the curtains did not fully block the light from outside, and both the air conditioning and the refrigerator were quite noisy.

The location of the hotel is good, nothing in the city was very far away. The room (#204) was large enough, clean and was quiet during the night. The cleaning staff were very attentive and made sure I had what I needed.

There is no on-site reception person from 10pm to 8am, you have to call an off-site person if you need something during those hours. During the week I asked them to arranged for a taxi to pick me up on Friday (at 4:45am) for an early flight at the airport. A half hour after taxi was supposed to arrive it still had not shown up. Called the off-site reception and they told me the taxi had been there, it had not. Had to go across the street to another hotel to arrange for a taxi. They advertise that there is a phone in the room but you cannot make outside calls from the room and they can't/won't transfer a call from outside to your room. I had someone try to call me and the hotel wouldn't put the call through to my room nor did they pass along the message from the person who called to let me know that they called.
