We had a wonderful stay the week of Thanksgiving! Our college age daughter had to have her tonsils out the week before Thanksgiving and this beautiful guest home was the perfect place to recuperate for her. I enjoyed the early sunrises from the upstairs primary bedroom and she had the quiet of the downstairs bedroom. When my husband and older daughter joined us later in week - plenty of room for everyone. The home is beautiful, kitchen well stocked and views amazing!!!

Friendly Cottage was our home away from home while we enjoyed exploring Bailey Island and other nearby areas. Laurie and Eric have created the perfect haven to relax, unwind and create memories that will last a lifetime. The views from the cottage are breathtaking and you will have everything you need and more for a wonderful stay. The red chairs by waters edge were definitely the highlight of our stay! Thank you Laurie and Eric for sharing your amazing property with us!

This house was all I was hoping for, a quiet more secluded location, overlooking the ocean for our fall wedding anniversary. The house was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need for cooking, laundry going to the beach. We only cooked breakfast there but I was amazed how the kitchen had everything you would need to cook up some wonderful Maine lobster meals. I could not wait to get here and sit in the red chairs and enjoy the ocean view and sounds but even better I was able to star gaze at a million stars. Thank Eric and Laurie for sharing your slice of heaven with us.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Friendly Cottage! It's a beautiful, peaceful area and one we will be telling others about. Lots of wonderful local restaurants and a little gift shop at the end of the island. A wonderful secluded beach is just down the road. The main bedroom upstairs has a super cozy bed and amazing sunrises to start your day. Thank you for sharing your place with us. We hope to visit again!

We recently stayed here for three nights after spending the previous four days in Bar Harbor. We loved our place in Bar Harbor, but the setting here was much preferred. It is a wonderful place. The views from the family room and the master bedroom are like a post card. The house was impeccably clean and well appointed. The owners live next door, but were not intrusive and welcome you to use the chairs on their lawn overlooking the ocean below. The island is a little quirky in a good way and there are a few old school dining options that we enjoyed. The one downside was a lack of walking trails, other than the Giant Steps trail. The location is a good launching point for visiting other charming southern Maine cities, such as Camden, Freeport, and Portland. The only small nits were the thermostat – it wasn’t clear to me that I was working it correctly. We also were unable to get the Hulu function on the TV to work, but we didn’t go there to watch TV. I highly recommend this beautiful home.

We had a wonderful stay at this very well equipped home on the ocean. Very comfortable for 4 Adults and 1 young child. Fully Air Conditioned with all the essential amenities. Highly recommend this rental if you seek a quiet getaway with an awesome view.

Our family enjoyed a very peaceful week staying at Friendly Cottage on Bailey Island. The cottage was beautiful and extremely well-equipped. We fell in love with the thoughtful design details, architecture, and gorgeous gardens, as well as the beautiful views of Casco Bay from the living room and master bedroom. We were also grateful for the very thorough welcome booklet in the cottage, which was complete with lots of information about the surrounding area, activities, businesses, and some history. Eric and Laurie were fabulous hosts -- they were very friendly and helpful when we saw them around the property, but were respectful of our privacy. We connected over a common Bailey Island relative, which was a nice surprise.
The island itself is small, quaint, and beautiful. It has the small town feel that Maine is so famous for, without giving the impression that you're intruding as an outsider (from away). In addition to the Bailey Island sights and attractions, we enjoyed dinner at Dolphin Marina in Harpswell, as well as some shopping in downtown Brunswick, which is a lovely little college town.
We loved our week on Bailey Island, and will absolutely look to rent Friendly Cottage again when we find ourselves visiting in the future.

We loved every minute of our stay at the Friendly Cottage and can't wait to go back! From its peaceful location overlooking the ocean to the spacious layout and helpful amenities, everything was just right and our hosts couldn't have been more gracious and helpful. The best of Bailey Island is within walking distance: the general store is just up the road and the beach is just down the lane. But you'll just want to spend all day gazing at the sea just outside your door, and Laurie's beautiful gardens. I almost hate to tell anyone how special it was. We can't wait to go back!

We stopped at the Friendly Cottage for just a short couple days. Sadly, the weather was not in our favor but it didn’t stop us from an enjoyable time! The cottage is located on a quiet street with amazing views. Our kids enjoyed going down to the water and looking in the tide pools. We had a great breakfast at the general store (with pancakes bigger than our plates!), checked out the Giant Stairs, went down tot he Lands End gift shop and got some ice cream at the local candy store. A very quaint place to get away from it all!

Several times a day, and even in the evening, we'd look out at the incredible views of the ocean! The home was equally impressive. It was a beautiful home with all the bells and whistles. It is also decorated very nicely.
The location is also perfect. There were fun hikes, restaurants, and other things to do in the area. It was also just a quick jaunt to go to Kennebunkport and other quant towns.
It was a perfect place to relax and spend time with the family. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your wonderful home!

We loved our stay! The cottage was clean and cozy, the views were amazing, and the owners couldn’t have been nicer. It was a hit with the entire family! I’m not sure which we enjoyed more…the beach behind the house (my kids favorite) or walking to the general store for a yummy breakfast and lunch (my parents favorite). Hope to stay again!

We had a great time. The house and gardens are beautiful and spacious. The house is one house back from the ocean but with beautiful views and easy access to oceanfront seating which you can see in the photos. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Bailey Island is lovely. Our hosts were very accommodating- all in all it was a wonderful week. We would go back.

The location and views are quintessential New England complete with beaches, rocky coast, and ocean views to die for. It was a great place to connect with family and friends. The property is beautifully decorated, extremely clean and very well appointed. The kitchen has everything you need and is a dream to work in — with pots, pans, mixing bowls, utensils etc. The property grounds and gardens are so beautiful and peaceful to sit, read a book and enjoy the view. The owners are really nice — pleasant, knowledgeable about the area and open to questions and requests. Truly a dream vacation!! Thank you for a lovely stay

Our family really enjoyed spending a week in the Friendly Cottage on Bailey Island. The views are even better in person, as is the house and location. We loved walking to Cedar Beach and to the marina, and the kids loved the small beach right on the property to collect shells and rocks. The island has awesome restaurants and the surrounding location has lots to do. We recommend sailing on the Alert, checking out Giant Steps and Land’s End, and checking out Freeport (especially Maine Beer Co.) We are so glad we picked this place and look forward to coming back!

The hosts were very welcoming and gave great local recommendations. The property was spotless and so beautiful and peaceful. We could have spent another week just sitting by the ocean enjoying the serenity and the views. It is as simply the most perfect getaway with friends to relax and explore the beautiful areas of Maine. So many great things to see and do. We HIGHLY recommend West Wind Lobster Boat Tours with Jay- such an informative and up close look at the lobstering industry and the local ecology. We will be back to Friendly Cottage again, this place was simply amazing!!!

This house is so gorgeous. New construction but I’m amazed by the detail and character they built into the house, it seems like it’s been there 100 years. I wish we lived here and we can’t wait to come back!

Really enjoyed the trip. The location was great and the sun rises in the morning were amazing. The hosts were very accommodating. My only thoughts about this day is that I think the pictures or a little misleading in the view of the ocean from the rental.

First and foremost, the Friendly Cottage is perfection. We were so excited when renting the place but we're totally blown away once we arrived and saw the cottage, the owners home, and the grounds.
The owners sent us a friendly email prior to our arrival making some suggestions on where to stop and shop before heading out onto the island. Hannaford's in Brunswick had everything. They even steamed our lobsters for us to take back to the cottage. The owners have obviously done their own fair share of traveling and know exactly what people are looking for when staying there. The cottage was equipped with everything we could have wanted or needed.
The grounds are beautiful and the sunrise and sunset from the red chairs at waters edge is breath taking. It was one of our favorite spots. The island has a lot to offer with Land's End, The Giant Stairs, Mackerel Cove, and so much more.
We did rent a large SUV for comfort because we knew we would be doing a lot of driving and sight seeing. We did downtown Portland on the day we arrived. The following day we did the lighthouses. On the 3rd day we went to Hermit Woods Winery in Meredith RI and then to Kennebunkport on our return back. On the 4th day we went to Salem, Mass.
On the 5th day we went to Breakwater Pier in Rockport, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park. The view from Cadillac Mountain was the most beautiful we've ever seen.
This vaca was short and sweet. 5 of us were celebrating our birthdays; 3 of us turning 50.

Since we don't have fall in Florida, we booked a Maine visit with the in-laws to enjoy cooler weather and fall colors. This house was the perfect location to enjoy the amazing sights and scenes of Maine. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for the in-laws who aren't good at managing stairs. The upstairs bedrooms were stellar as well, with amazing views from one the one bedroom. Waking up to the sunrise over the ocean is a beautiful thing, and it's visible from nearly the entire house. The chairs perched at the water's edge are perfect for watching the waves roll in. The propane grill is a nice asset for dining, along with a well-stocked kitchen. This house has everything you need for a great coastal Maine getaway. We highly recommend it!

It was a fabulous family time at Bailey’s Island VRBO! You couldn’t ask for a better view. We cooked, walked, and went shopping at L.L. Bean and Freeport. Everything you needed to make a perfect vacation is provided. They were a gracious host.

The views from the side of the house to the ocean are especially lovely, especially from the main upstairs bedroom. This house is set back a bit from the water and the chairs at the waters edge are just as depicted and easily spotted when you walk to the ocean edge of the property. We arrived after the peak season - so enjoying cooking in the home was important to us (no restaurant open on the island). We did drive to Brunswick to eat out and had a fabulous meal at Aki Sushi and Hibachi there.

This cottage was the perfect place to stay for my wedding weekend! The natural light, great closet space and the beautiful grounds and ocean view were ideal and couldn't have been better. The hosts responded quickly to my emails and answered all my questions. They even let my photographer take some pics of us where the chairs are set at the coastline.
The sunrise views are to die for! You can see the sunrise over the ocean from the downstairs or upstairs in the master bedroom. My morning coffee hasn't tasted the same since I have returned home. lol My husband is already talking about renting this cottage next summer! It really is exactly like the pics - beautiful and spotless. The location is great - you can walk to several places on the island. I can't say enough positive things about this cottage and the scenery - love, love, love!

Our first time on Bailey Island was wonderful. The home was perfect for our family. It was extremely clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the master bedroom had a view you can't beat. Listening to the waves crash and watching the stars in the sky lulled us to sleep at night. The sleep number bed was very comfortable. It was a beautiful home with perfect surroundings and the owner was there if we had any questions. We highly recommend this home. Bailey Island is a beautiful area of Maine. We loved it there!

We so enjoyed our time on Bailey Island. We spent the previous week in Ogunquit. Bailey Island was a wonderful oasis of calm and peacefulness. The house has everything you could ask for & the owners are beyond friendly and welcoming. it is an easy drive to Brunswick or Freeport for antiquing and general sight-seeing, but were always so happy to return to this beautiful spot. You will not go wrong to visit this beautiful home. We hope to come back next summer. I am so glad we chose this spot!

Friendly Cottage is modern and clean. We had three adult (60+) couples in our group. We loved the oceanfront chairs on the lawn and were blessed with wonderful weather that allowed us to use them many times during our stay. Just down the road (within walking distance of about 1/3 mile) is the Bailey Island General Store which we visited several times for food essentials, adult beverages, and very good sandwiches off the grill. The post office (with limited hours) is there also, The property is beautifully landscaped with a spectacular sunrise. I am glad we chose this property for our short vacation.

Well, there's not one thing negative I can say about staying at this beautiful seaside cottage. Neat as a pin, fully equipped at every level, and responsive owners. I received an immediate reply from Laurie when I sent her a note about the malfunctioning coffee maker. We had a new replacement within hours! There are more than enough of everything with a well-stocked kitchen, towels galore including a stack of beach towels, beach accessories, outside chairs, and well-groomed gardens. House is located on a quiet street with no street lights so the night skies are brilliant. We sat in the Adirondack chairs and watched the moon rise. Your Maine vacation will be made extra special if you choose to stay at the Friendly Cottage!

This is probably our fourth stay at Friendly Cottage, and everyone in our family agrees it is the best place EVER. Everything is pristine as you enter, the cottage is comfortable and beautifully decorated, and there's so much to do in the area that it makes for the perfect vacation for all ages. We spend lots of time sitting in chairs outside watching the waves and seagulls, but you could also cook outside on the grill, go for walks on trails, or go to the beach in good weather. We always say as we leave that we need to come back more often. Laurie and Brian are the kindest hosts. I can't say enough positive things about Friendly Cottage.
