The apartment itself is reasonable, but certainly not the 9.5 standard claimed. We had to rewash any crockery/cutlery ourselves and there are virtually no basics (sugar,salt,oil etc) in the kitchen. We tried to use the kettle but this tripped the power to the unit, thus ensued the unpleasant, and unsafe process of resetting the power in the basement (see review pictures) via instruction on WhatsApp. The power metres are in a damp, unlit, smelly basement. To get to them you need a torch as the basement is unlit. You have to unlock the basement door and negotiate the steps to the basement which has many dank smelly and unlit rooms. You then have to find the power meters which are situated in one of these rooms. Gingerly walk over the wet rubbish, sneak behind some sort of plumbing, then find the correct fusebox and reset. All this in dark, smelly, unsafe surroundings. This must happen often as the agent for the house did forewarn us that powerfailures are common. Booking.com had to intervene to secure a refund for our family as the owners were not going to. Traveller beware, book this apartment at your own risk.

we was told the electrics could turn off if we used 2 sockets at once. we was very careful but it did go out whilst having a shower and using the kettle.

The views are spectacular, literally you have the best seat to watch the sunset on Ortigia island. Heaps of space, big kitchen, fridge and laundry. Only 15-20 min walk to the island and there is plenty of free parking. Linda our host was so lovely and accommodating, and provided many recommendations for restaurants and beaches which helped us get the most out of our stay. Can't wait to come back, was great value for money.
The only thing I could pick on but is minor was the shower was a little small but it has 2 which makes getting ready very quick!

Apartment has the most amazing view from the penthouse balcony. Great for group travellers with 2 bedrooms (open-plan no doors) and 2 bathrooms.
Decor was funky & fun.
Location wasn't ideal, 10min walk to the heart of the town but I guess you can't have penthouse views with a walk.
Airconditioning was strong, they need a few fans to help circulate the air.

Very nice view from terrace. A lot of Space, two bathrooms. Close to Old Town, walk arround 10min. Free parking close to apartment
Linda -staff helpful. Gave us tips about restaurants and bars. No problem with check out a little bit later.

The view is to die for! Lovely apartment in a good location just 15-20 mins walk to Ortigia. We were met by lovely Linda who gave us some recommendations for where to eat and visit during our stay. Having two bathrooms and a large walk-in wardrobe was a real bonus, but by far the best thing was the balcony with the amazing view at all times of the day.
On our last night there was a power cut in the apartment. Linda sent us very detailed instructions of how to sort this out ourselves, but it involved going down into the basement and through a few dusty/dark rooms to find the fuse for the apartment - not ideal, but at least it meant it was solved quickly without having to wait for someone. Could have done with a couple of more comfy chairs on the balcony and perhaps a couple of deck chairs to take down to the beach.

Beautiful view
Very poor electricity + hot water system. During 2 days we were not able to take warm shower, only cold water, then electricity failure happend 2 mornings, that means no WIFI, not possible to boil water for coffee, not possible to charge phone , nor to use hairdryer (after cold shower).... So, if you are from outside Europe you will need to use your data to contact the owner...

Linda was incredibly accommodating with our check-in, very flexible, helpful and friendly. The apartment itself is quirky and charming with stunning views of Ortigia as well as the city of Siracuse itself. The location was also fantastic, and we really enjoyed walking around the old town of Ortigia, only 10 mins walk away. Everything was super comfy and clean, and the kitchen was generally very well equipped.
Although it’s somewhat to be expected at the top of a very old Sicilian apartment block, the water pressure / amount of hot water left much to be desired. Having said that though, we laughed it off as being part of the Sicilian experience and we definitely don’t think that should put you off if you are only staying a few days. Other than that, and although the kitchen was generally very well equipped, we would recommend some basic items are made available such as salt and pepper mills, a lighter for candles, kitchen roll, maybe some laundry detergent (although we note washing up liquid and sponges were already provided).

The location, the view and the decor were all top notch. The bed is very comfortable. Check in was very smooth. Kitchen is well equipped.
There's some issue with water pressure in the bathrooms while kitchen and laundry are fine. Showering might require some fiddling to keep pressure pump engaged.

This was a retro-style, boutique, penthouse apartment in Siracusa, with fantastic views and small terrace overlooking beautiful Ortygia, just 5 minutes walk away. Very clean and comfortable with good air conditioning. Gabriele was an excellent host and met us with keys at the time organised. He also helped us order a taxi immediately, during the week when we needed one in a heavy thunderstorm. We thought Casa Aphrodite was a rather romantic place - even for us oldies.
It's hard to think of anything much that we didn't like - so being picky here, but I think the plumbing in both the showers could be a bit better. Water pressure fine and easy to use, but it was hard to maintain a flow of warm water which I definitely wouldn't like if it was cold weather.
