Beautiful old property with lots of history and charm. Great view, especially from the stunning pool. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Be sure to take a stroll around the grounds. Well located close to Castellina.

Our air conditioner didn’t work very well and the bed was quite hard. However we were given a fan which made it much more comfortable.

The main building of this Tuscan property is undeniably charming, elegant, full of old-world character, with stunning views that make you understand why Tuscany has been inspiring people for centuries.

Unfortunately, our stay in the dependance told a very different story: basic, dated rooms with bathrooms that clearly haven’t been touched in decades. The real disappointment, however, was the food experience. With no restaurant on site, the hotel offers a charcuterie and cheese board for €18. We requested a simple spread for 9 adults and 7 children — cold pasta with tomato and mozzarella, crostini with hummus and chicken liver pâté, a bowl of canned tuna and beans, and plain pasta for the kids, along with water bottles and a few bottles of wine. Everything was served on paper plates with plastic cutlery. When the bill arrived, we were charged €2,700. When we challenged the amount, we were told we had “exclusive use of the pool” — which was simply untrue; there were no other guests that morning, and new arrivals checked in at the pool shortly after lunch. After a tense negotiation to avoid involving the authorities, the owner agreed to reduce the charge, but still billed us €1,350 — for bowls of cold pasta.
