Lovely clean hostel, great facilities, comfy beds, really enjoyed the ping pong table, really well decked out kitchen, great value and location.

We were supposed to sleep in a tent at the campsite, but it turned out that there would be a storm in the evening and at night, and this was the only possible accommodation option in the city. There wasn’t any problem with the parking.
If it wasn't raining, we would prefer to sleep at the campsite. It was not very clean, especially the shared bathrooms. The shower area is so small that it's hard to take a bath with all your stuff. We slept in sleeping bags because the bedding wasn't very clean either

30 Jahre jünger wäre ich von dem Hostel vermutlich begeistert gewesen. Im Grunde alles so wie beschrieben vorgefunden, objektiv gab es nichts zu beanstanden, aber es wirkt doch etwas schmuddelig und abgewohnt. Wir hatten eine günstige Übernachtung gesucht, da wir erst am nächsten Tag mit dem Zug nach Christchurch zurück wollten. Insofern wurden Zweck und Erwartungen erfüllt. Alles gut.

Amazing location, perfect hostel with all necessary facilities provided, professionalism and kindness of the managing staff. All the building was renovated and we had everything we needed to explore the beauties of Greymouth and surroundings. Thank you so much for all!

Common area for cooking was nice. Clean. Lots of stuff to cook with. Frig was clean. Room was decent. Hot was kind. Took my suitcase up the stairs for me.
Too much construction noise after 7 pm. Host explained they were remodeling. We closed hall door but I felt bad for guests on that hallway. Pretty expensive for a hostel though I did get a single room.

The staff was amzing and the rooms were great. had eveything you could need and more. The beds were comfortable and there was no traveling noise at night which is a huge improvement over most hostels.
The bathrooms were kind of confusing to get to lol but that may simply due to me being directionally challenged. I think maybe more light in the bathroom and more towels hangers and such could be helpful.

Great location, friendly staff. Have stayed here twice and it’s basic but clean and the guy running it is really nice.

Loved the room with its on suite that was handy. Very central to my needs. Lovely owner helped carry bags up and down stairs. Can see the amount of effort and changes gone into the place since last stay
Just having to hit the heater every 25mins as the room was cold but that's all

Best hostel in New Zealand so far on this trip. Very clean, including the kitchen. Beds were incredibly comfortable. Hot showers, nice toilets. Love the overall vibe!

Hosts are friendly, place is painted quirky colours that make you feel happy. Kitchen is stocked with many pots, pans and has every electrical appliance you want right down to a NutriBullet. This hostel is an ultra clean place to stay. I’d recommend this hostel.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The facilities were great so we managed to do everything we needed there like our washing etc as we had been travelling in a van for a while. Kitchen was huge and they provided things for breakfast. There were some big common rooms for people to enjoy. Location was perfect as really central. We also went to the cinema which I would highly recommend as it was very nice.
It is a bit noisy because the building is quite old so the walls are pretty thin but we still had a great sleep.

The Duke is old, but this is made up for by the friendliness of the staff/owner and the bright colours - the yellow is very cheerful, and it's pretty colourful inside too. There was a fire downstairs in the dining room in the morning, and Glen cooked hearty porridge for breakfast.
The shared bathroom facilities were pretty basic, but of course this is an old style hostel. They are already working through updating/maintenance of the rooms and facilities.

Great kitchen facility, comfortable bed and great room temperature.
Free WiFi needs to be password protected. As soon as we signed into it we were getting notifications of hackers attempting to get into our logins/accounts on our devices. We immediately disconnected from the WiFi and changed all of our passwords. Please make your internet secure!

the owners were so friendly and helpful! The whole Hostel is clean as can be! The rooms are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped.
