Fenix Furano

The hotel sits atop a hill and we had a really good view of the town and the mountains in the distnace from our hotel room balcony. It was low tourist season when we got there so it was peaceful and quiet, just the way we like it. The staff were super helpful. One carried our luggage to our room and the other offered to help us make reservations for dinner at an excellent Shabu Shabu restaurant downtown. Both members of staff spoke excellent English. There was a also a laundry room so we could wash our clothes while we were in the middle of a 2 week journey. The room was clean and functional with ample space for 2. There was ample parking.

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

The breakfast!! Both Japanese and Western style - it is a small buffet selection but the taste was home-style and delicious!! This may be the reason why I would come back to stay. Location is great if you are skiing as it is right by the gondola. There is also heat racks for drying wet clothes. For summer time (which I went), it is a little further away from the main city area, but if driving, that shouldn't be a problem (there is a big carpark nearby if hotel's carpark is full). The area was quiet and peaceful. The place is new, modern and clean. There is seats outside in the lobby for comfortable relaxation.

Room size was a little small for its price, though that might be deal to standard Japanese hotel sizing and high demand during ski season. Breakfast area is also small, so if full, you will have to seat at tables in the lobby.
