Risby Cove Boutique Hotel

The room was clean, modern with some nice touches, like heated blankets and heated flooring in the bathroom. Lovely quaint setting and location in Strahan. Cheese platter and welcome drinks were a nice addition on arrival. The restaurant was absolutely amazing - the food, service by Nick and general ambience all made for a really wonderful evening at Risby. Likewise, breakfast in the morning was lovely.

Unfortunately, our check-in experience wasn't the best, which after a long drive from Hobart and excitement to arrive, was disappointing. Nobody was around, reception was closed up, so we called the number on the desk. The manager was in town and when they came back, we were asked to wait whilst they checked to see if our room was ready (even though we arrived late afternoon). The room we were given was not the room we booked, as it did not have a fire place, the one thing we were hoping for in our room. We instead got a room with an unnecessessarily large television. The room we were in didn't have much privacy and so had to keep curtains closed, defeating the purpose of the location/ views, including when using the bath. We were only there for one night and so decided to leave it and not raise the room issue as the manager had said they were having staffing issues and generally seemed a bit stressed when we checked in. However, given the price paid for this accommodation, I would have expected we be given the room that we booked, and that our arrival be a more welcoming experience.

From minute we arrived we were well looked after. Staff top notch. Friendly and helpful.

Photos show a large bucket for popcorn, popcorn provided was the same size as a mobile phone After a long day of driving was looking forward to a relaxing movie night (which is why I chose to pay extra for this place and package) but this didn’t happen Breakfast was supposed to include a selection of danishes but this was not offered this morning (Fri 18th Sept)
