We enjoyed our Vineyard vacation. When we arrived we were impressed with the house and yard; in our opinion it was nicer in person than the pictures. The yard was large enough for my young kids to kick around a soccer ball and surrounded by trees so there was privacy. State Road was busy, but we were far enough off the road and the trees provided enough cover so that we didn't feel like we were on a busy road. We enjoyed meals on the deck at the large table. The house was located a 5 minute drive away from the private beach at Lambert's Cove and it was a lovely beach. There was a coffee shop, grocery store and apothecary within walking distance and in fact we enjoyed our walk to get our iced coffees every morning. The outdoor shower was large and we loved using it every day. The house was very clean when we arrived. It had many items to make it convenient for us - beach chairs, a beach cart to help cart our items to/from the beach (much appreciated when we had two kids and all their toys along with chairs), a beach umbrella, etc. It was nice having linens and towels provided so we could save space when packing. The house more than accommodated the four adults and two kids in our group. Communication with the owner was easy and pleasant. David provided a handy pamphlet with many details about the island - restaurants, beaches, etc. which was appreciated. There was one snag we encountered during our visit but in our opinion David went above and beyond to rectify the issue. All in all we enjoyed our vacation and the property had everything we would need. I would have no problem recommending this house to anyone looking for a nice place to stay on the Vineyard.

This was our first visit to Martha's Vineyard and I have to say, the home immaculate, well equipped and better than expected. We would hear Cardinals seranade us in the morning, and lightening bugs (fireflies) put on a show at night My 8 yr-old daughter enjoyed the alcove in the twin bedroom and the thoughtfulness of the owner is second to none. There was an issue with the air conditioning but he went out of his way to meet us, bring in fans and communicated with us about the situation. The nights are cool and we were gone for most of the day that it did not impact anything. The home is in a quieter location which is what we were looking for and the property is beautiful. We hope to come back again next year!

Air conditioning was a huge plus during our hot and humid July stay. Tankless hot water meant everyone could get their shower in without worrying about running out of hot water. Wifi was of sufficient quality to get some work done if you needed to. The lot is wooded and very private, although proximity to a main road meant a lot of road noise. The house is about a 10 minute drive from Vineyard Haven (Tisbury) and is well located to visiting everywhere on the island. Nowhere was more than a 30 minute drive. It also happens to be very convenient to a supermarket. Communication with the owner was good - no issues. All in all a good stay, would stay here again.

We loved it here. The property was super clean and just right for our 2 couples and teen. It's off the beaten path but that's what made it so great. It's was good to have a car to get everywhere. The deck was beautiful and we enjoyed it immensely. The amenities and kitchen were great. We loved Lambert's Cove Beach! We used the beach chairs and the outdoor shower every day. The convenient store was close and we could walk from the bus stop. It's best to come into the vineyard haven terminal. Especially if you bring bikes. The ride from the ferry was 5ish miles from Vineyard Haven and 8+ from Oak Bluffs. It's a Hike!! It was good to have the car, But the house was close enough to the bus route if you don't have a car. I highly suggest you bring your car though. Over all totally awesome and so great to stay for the week!

Our expectations were met, a clean house, very quiet and peaceful surroundings. Be sure to use the suggestions listed in the pamphlet created by the owner, a wealth of information for first time visitors and those familiar with the Island .

This is our second year renting from David. The house is very comfortable and a quiet but central location. In West Tisbury. We enjoy the deck and yard after the beach each day. We had a picture perfect week and look forward to returning again.

This was a comfortable and cozy home with everything we needed...plenty of space and all the conveniences. Loved the deck - we often dined outside and enjoyed the trees and watching birds flit about. Access to the beach at Lambert’s Cove was a huge bonus. Good location, and lots of dining and shopping options nearby. Can recommend as a great place to stay on MV.

This was the perfect place for me and my crew for working on the Gay Head lighthouse lens restoration. If I came back to Martha's Vineyard I'd be happy to stay here again.

We found the central location of this house convenient for experiencing the entire island. There's a Cronig's grocery store just up the street. We visited the Farmer's Market at the Grange, bought fish at Larsen's in Menemsha, rode the Carousel in Oak Bluffs, shopped in Vineyard Haven and had lunch in Edgartown. Our host David was friendly and responsive. The house itself is comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a full dinner. The beds are comfortable. There's cable tv with Netflix, an outdoor shower and full laundry room. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks David!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your home. Your house was perfect for us and so cozy and clean. My mom who is 80 years old loved the deck where she sat outside in the mornings with my husband drinking their coffee and having breakfast. My sister and I enjoyed catching up on some sleep, as NYC commuters we needed a vacation and your house was perfect, peaceful and we felt like we were at home. We very much enjoyed our stay here! The house was very clean and fairly centrally located to major attractions. Our 3 year old daughter LOVED the little bed in the alcove and the colorful nightlights upstairs. The owner was extremely responsive and provided helpful information about the area. There are many excellent dining options a short drive away. Our favorite place to have breakfast on the go was right down the street at 7a - get the biscuit breakfast sandwiches every chance you get!!!! There is also the Scottish Bakehouse and The Little House on State Rd that are very good. State Road restaurant is right up the road a bit...most delicious dinner! Make reservations though...even in the off-season. Downside of staying here is that you're not really in walking distance of anything and State Rd is fairly busy. However, Lambert's Cove is close by and is one of the best, if not THE best, beach on the entire island. We spent a lot of time here. Go early. Go often. Stay for the sunsets.

Can't say enough good things about David's house! From initial contact through the time leading up to our stay David was very prompt in responding to all questions. The house was super clean and very comfortable. We will definitely stay here in the future!!!

Aside from echoing the comments of other reviewers, I can only add that I was pretty impressed with how fresh the renovations still look in spite of their now being about six years old. It's a testament to the work the owners have done to keep the place clean and in good shape. What you can't appreciate from the photos and description is the perfect combination of light and shade that you enjoy both inside the cottage and on the deck. Even both bathrooms have natural light coming in from at least one window or skylight. While the bathrooms are not huge, they're a bit more generous than some other places we've stayed in. The beds are extremely comfortable, firm mattresses, but with pillow tops. Even the linens, towels and sheets, we nicer than I expected. The kitchen is pretty well equipped if you prefer to eat in most of the time. There are some beach chairs and a beach umbrella available in the laundry room. In good weather, the deck is like another living space, on which you can enjoy a consistent chorus of birds, punctuated by the occasional call of a rooster (whom we dubbed Coq au Vin). State Road is on the busy side, so you do get a little traffic noise, but the house does sit well back from the road, so it doesn't feel intrusive. Since you can also get from one side of the island to the other on State Road, it's pretty darned convenient to whatever you want to do. Bike paths start within 500 feet of the house going each way. You can pick it up leading down-island on the house side of the road at Island Farm Road, and you can pick up another bike trail leading up-island at South Indian Hill Road. The house is also near bus stops, if you'd prefer to take the bus into one of the busier areas, like Oak Bluffs or Edgartown. Some of the nicest hikes we went on, Cedar Tree Neck, Menemsha Hills, Fulling Mill Brook, and Peaked Hill, were very near the house. One word of caution, if you're hiking or just making your way to one of the less public beaches, beware of both poison ivy and ticks. We did eat at the State Road Restaurant, which is less than a mile from the house, and it was delicious, though pricey. We also went for the Friday night lobster rolls at Grace Episcopal Church in Vineyard Haven. The size of these lobster rolls is in no way exaggerated. You may want to skip lunch. Bottom line, this is a great place to relax after busy days of exploration.
