Great breakfast, cooked to order

Traffic noise. Sealing the windows better would improve this greatly.

When reviewing a hotel stay there are so many variables to take into account but for me it eventually comes down to cleanliness and comfort. My aim is to judge each hotel on it's own merits and not compare it unfairly with somewhere else. Hannons may be in "need of modernisation" but it's still a good place to stay.  It was not our first stay in Hannons Hotel and hopefully won't be our last. The staff are so friendly and accommodating from the moment you check in.  Yes the rooms are dated, but they are really clean and comfortable.  Yes the bathrooms could do with a facelift and a walk in shower is always a plus, but our bathroom was again  clean with lashings of hot water and a decent "in bath" shower.  Where Hannons excels is when you arrive down for breakfast. No mid temperature buffet food here. They offer a range of options to accommodate even the fussiest of eaters. Each breakfast is brought to the table piping hot and completely delicious made with good quality ingredients.  It's definitely the best breakfast in Roscommon town and you don't have to be a resident to avail of it.  There were some locals beside us enjoying their Sunday morning breakfast treat which is always a good sign.  A mere 20 minute walk from the centre of town it is worth a stay for the friendly welcome and the excellent food. 

All the Staff were very friendly, the room was fine and the bed was very comfortable. Nice selection of food including breakfast.

There was nothing I really didn't like.

ALL Staff were excellent. Food options very good, bar food menu looked great (but ate elsewhere as we went out). Evening bar service and staff were excellent. Breakfast was excellent, food and service !

NOISE ALL NIGHT Despite keeping the window closed, all night the hum of air-con or ventaltion systems made it very hard to sleep. At 6am (Sunday morning) it got much louder, possible heating system (??) We had a very poor sleep, and nothing after 6am, we had to just get an early breakfast and leaving. Rooms (our anyway) very outdated. Hotel is 21 years old, but our room looked 30+ years. Weird room layout with bed beside the door and space elsewhere, locker to hit against as you enter. Bathroom poorly serviced, loose door handles, rusty fittings, etc. (bed itself was excellent!) When I said it to the staff the next day, I was told to contact them directly, dont use a booking service. How are we meant to know that ? It felt like they are giving sub-standard rooms to online bookings. In 20026 this is bad business. I was not offered any discount or voucher for another stay.
