A great little apartment in a good location, nestled in the old town of Monopoli. Our host, Antonella, was lovely, providing a friendly face when we arrived, and sharing lots of information about Monopoli with us. The apartment was clean and had everything that we needed for the three nights that we were there. Breakfast was 'local style', with a coffee and croissant at a nearby cafe - not the most extensive offering (if you are used to big breakfasts) but more than sufficient to keep us going until lunchtime. And Monopoli is a great place to spend a few days, with some amazing churches and museums (plus the photography exhibition in the Summer/Autumn). We would definitely return.

Note that the listing on Booking.com is a bit confusing, as some of the photos for the one-bedroom apartment appear to be those for the bigger apartment with a terrace. Whilst there was a balcony in the one-bedroom apartment, it isn't one that you can sit on, and the apartment was quite small. This was fine for us as we didn't plan to spend much time in the apartment but if you are spending more time there, then be aware that there isn't an outside seating area. I would have appreciated an electric kettle in the room.

The location of this wonderful apartment is in the heart of the historic Center of Monopoli, but far enough away from the tourist zones to provide for a quiet, restful experience. The space has a spacious terrace/kitchen with a nice view of the cathedral campanile. Antonella, is an excellent, attentive host and great communicator. The apartment is very cozy, but not cramped as it's divided into two floors. Lots of exposed original brickwork.. a short walk to excellent trattorias!

One thing that should be mentioned is that the apartment we had was superb for being at the top of the building, but keep in mind, there are steep, narrow stairways that may not be suitable for the elderly or mobility challenged especially with heavy baggage. Also, as it's in a pedestrian zone, parking must be acquired just outside of that area. We found opportunities for free (white stripe) parking spaces at nearby Piazza Vittorio Emanuel II. From there it's a 6-minute walk (450 meters).

Very noisy outside, especially on late evenings and early mornings. Specific smell. Apartment is renovated but the quality of furniture and sanitary engineering is quite low. Breakfast was tasty, but super basic: one cup of coffee and one croissant. Towels were not change during our stay
