Hotel Vista de Olas

Great location with a nice pool that is nice for sunset times. The staff were very nice and helpful including manager himself. My room had a nice view of the ocean which I appreciated very much.

When I was there, unfortunately, there was an electricity outage due to a tree cutting the power line. Without AC, it was not easy, but the owner and staff tried their best and made breakfast and coffee. There are so many ways they can improve this hotel, including the ant problem. There were just a lot of flying ants in the room (I understand that this is common, but they can do something about it). Also, the shower and bathroom do not have privacy. Simply adding a curtain or extension of the wall could do it.

The place had a beautiful sea view and the infinity pool was a real highlight. The fruit at breakfast was nice

Breakfast was poor, except for fruit and coffee The toilet was inside the room with very little privacy, which was uncomfortable. Note that there’s no WiFi in the rooms. Good to unplug, but be aware.

Best view and pool area hands down. One of those spots you want your dreamy instagram pictures taken at. The staff was generally friendly and helpful.

The road up to the hotel was nightmarish. Worst road I’ve experienced in Costa Rica. I had a two wheel suv which barely made it up. Definitely a 4*4 kind of place. I had a terrible experience with the host Roger, who urged me to leave after I a second time told him my room smelled moldy/of mildew. The staff made a big effort to clean the room thoroughly, and I appreciate that effort. But the place still smelled of mold, and the host Roger ”lost it” when I told him that (very calmly) and urged me to leave. After that there was no way I was staying there longer, so I left.
