Las Caletas is a true gem. A small place with huge views and lots of adventures - from the tours you can take to Cano Island and Corcovado to the beaches you can hike to from the lodge. Fantastic views, beautiful trails from the property. Lots of wildlife- toucans, black hawk nest, parrots, monkeys. The food was really amazing and the staff were incredible. We will be back for sure!!!
There is no air conditioning, but there are fans in the rooms. The rooms are lovely, simple and clean. If you are an AC person, this is not the place for you. If you love nature, ocean breezes, and the outdoors you will love it here.

Loved the food, they have a great cook. Daniel was really accommodating and helpful. The facilities are gorgeous, and it is right above the beach.
It is a very hot and humid place and the rooms do not have air-conditioning.

Food and staff was amazing! Great location as well.
We were told that we were able to leave a day early and when we went to check out we were told they werent able to do it anymore due to booking.com and our boat was about ready to leave. The room's fan was extremely loud and shaking and was honestly a bit scary. We would not have left early if we werent earlier told it would be no problem.

We stayed in one of the two tent rooms. These were affordable and a great value. Plus there was a bit of ocean view from the room. The dinners were fantastic. Only served at 7 PM was a bit later than we would have liked for a heavy meal, but the chef was magnificent, and every meal delicious. It was easy to arrange lunch at a reasonable price for days we were not out touring.
It was very hot and muggy and the fan just made the room bearable in the heat of the day. More cooling options, or a 2nd fan would have made the room more comfortable.

Las Caletas is a very special place in a very special country. It was set on its own little bay, principally accessible only by boat, but you could walk to Drakes Bay too. Providing both breakfast and dinner, on the expectation that guests would generally be out doing tours or visits during the day - which they were only to pleased to help you arrange the lodge had a very peaceful atmosphere, lovely gardens to sit in, active and colourful wildlife all around, and Daniel (i hope I have remembered his name - he is doing a degree in marine biology) who just ran everything so smoothly. Because it is quite small everyone eats at the same time in the evening so you tend to get to know some of the other guests, making it friendly as well as relaxing. There is a wide range of activities available - but I would recommend that you get these booked before you arrive as some get booked out quite well in advance - although Daniel will do what he can. The beach is good and the sea quite swimmable, but there can be quite a pull when you try to get out!
I cannot think of anything

Outstanding staff, specially Daniel, the manager, who is the soul of the place. Great location and views.
This place is definitely NOT a hotel or lodge, it is an old camping with tents and different sized cabins, no comfort at all - no space to move or even leave your stuff, intermittent hot water, irregular wifi and most important: no air conditioning and/or pool , which is absolutely necessary in these area, as heat and humidity are terrible. No way to cool down after a jungle tour or even a short walk. It is imposible to dry your clothes in days. Talking to other people we found out that almost all lodges in the area do have aircon, some of them also a swimming pool. We left a day earlier than planned because of this.
Very poor value for money.

Living close to nature in a lush and green environment. Awakening to the sound of birds and howling monkeys. Very good and tasty food. Helpful and very serviceminded staff.
Private toilet was separate from room/tent. Although just 20 meters away.

Beautiful! Super friendly, accomodating staf.
We eat vegan, the kitchen staff cooked very nice food for us. We stayed in resorts and hotels and mostly their idea of eating vegan is just skipping animal products. Here they cooked especially for us. It showed they cared and take hospitality serious. Thank you everyone at caletas lodge! ❤️🙏❤️

The location is great because you can walk to town along a path, but you are far enough away from town to feel like you are in paradise. the grounds are very pretty with amazing views. The food was out of this world good. I mean it was some magically delicious gourmet food.
My one and only complaint was the towels. They smelled horrible. After my first shower I was drying off and noticed a bad smell, and also some long hairs stuck to my body (I have very short hair). In my naïveté, I took a nice strong sniff of the towel and I am not kidding you, I dry heaved several times. It was that bad. It reminded me of the smell of a towel used with product to clean pet urine out of carpet. Half urine and half weird chemical. Soooo gross. I asked for fresh towels and they too had the smell. The bedsheets did have a little bit of the smell but it was bearable, nowhere near as bad as the towels.

Everything at Las Caletas was an amazing experience. The location is stunning, the food was so delicious and generously prepared, the staff (especially Daniel) were so nice and helpful and the tent experience was so immersive… we could hear the sounds of the ocean, the nearby waterfall and the birds. Would not hesitate to stay again, a wonderful, isolated spot on Drake Bay.
Bathroom was decent enough, but shower had only intermittent hot water which can be expected in such a remote location and welcome in such a hot climate!

Las Caletas Lodge has its own charm that cannot be compared to anything else. We liked the fact that it was kind of away from everything, with paths leading both ways to explore the jungle, small beaches, and the town. The way Daniel welcomes and takes care of his guests is simply amazing. He makes you feel as if you are a good friend come for a visit. Breakfast and dinner were very tasty and beautifully served. Wish we had planned to stay there longer and have a day or two just to relax there without taking any tours.

Daniel the manager was incredibly friendly and rasied the voting by 2 points. Also the other staff was really friendly and the restaurant was very good.
There was absolutely no extra services offered. Nearby lodges had eg kayaks for free. Therefor you are more or less forced to book expensive tours, since the waves on their own beach were also rather rough for the kids

Our stay was absolutely perfect, not only due to the beautiful locations and gardens, but to a big part because of Daniel, who was simply fantastic! He shared so much information about the country and its beautiful flora and fauna, and made our stay perfect!
@Daniel, we will truly miss you! let us know when you come to Switzerland, you will have a place to stay with us for sure! <3
We would be insane to write anything

This was the best stay in our 1 month Costa Rica vacation. The Lodge is in a very special place where you can spot lots of Aras, Toucanes, and even see the dolphins jumping out of the water.
The rooms are very clean, there are some bigs but this is totally normal when you stay in the middle of the jungle.
The staff is totally awesome. The food from zhe cool Eduardo was the best food we had in our whole trip.
But what made our trip to this hotel the best was Daniel, who managed everything in this hotel. He is very ambitious, caring, so kind and supports the guests in every situation. Every problem gets quickly solved by him! We saw that the other guests really enjoyed his hospitality and it seems to us that his presence even highers the value of the hotel!! Thanks to Daniel for everything, you made our trip to Drake unforgetable.
Would recommend it 110% to everyone going to Drake. Thank you guys!

Daniel was a gracious host. He very helpful throughout our stay. He made us feel very at ease and comfortable. Daniel even came running down to the shore when we were departing to show us a sloth that had appeared in a tree near the dining room. He knew we hadn't seen one yet. That was very cool!

The location was beautiful with gorgeous (empty) beaches and wildlife everywhere. The communication and info before we arrived meant we were able to book a night-time jungle walk for the evening we arrived and a scuba dive for the next morning. The whole experience was very relaxed and Daniel was amazing but also all the staff were very friendly and helpful too. The food and drinks were delicious.
There wasn't a bathroom to use once we had checked out.

Great location away from the main part of town, surrounded by lush greenery, lots of wildlife and very close to beautiful beaches and hiking trails. The food from Chef Eduardo was consistently high quality and varied during out stay, great choices for breakfast with a nice early start. We enjoyed having a packed lunch to take with us on long walks. The room and all the communal areas were very clean. Daniel was an excellent host, he went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, he was especially helpful organising transfers for us.
WiFi only available in communal area, it was the perfect place to disconnect so this didn't negatively impact our stay.

Las Caletas was definitely the best stay in our 3-week trip in Central America. In a secluded position far from Drake bay (you can only reach the place by boat or walking for 30 minutes) you will find this peaceful oasis. We slept with the sound of the waves and woke up by the sound of macaws and howler monkeys. The staff is great and the meals are amazing. We spent 3 nights there, it's the minimum one could do!

The service was wonderful (Can’t say enough about Daniel’s warmth and professionalism), and Jolanda a gracious host! Our tent was very comfortable, private bathroom clean, and the food exceeded our expectations.
No dislikes but guests should note: Access to the property is either via 1) drive to Drake Bay (+10 minute boat ride but HIGHLY RECOMMEND making this trip only with 4-wheel drive vehicle), 2) a drive to Sierpe (+1.5 hour boat ride), or 3) plane. The property can help coordinate boat rides.

Our lodge at las caletas was wonderful. It had two stories with a balcony that had an amazing view of the sea. Great location - although it is not in drakes bay town which we originally thought when we booked, so you need to get dropped at the hotels beach if travelling via the public boat from Sierpe, not in drakes bay town! Great location for wildlife & very close to the beach. The three course dinner included was also delicious & we really enjoyed it - they also were happy to cater to a vegetarian diet.
We did inform the property before our stay that we were visiting for our honeymoon but there was no mention of this during our stay or decoration in the room. This would have made our stay more personal & special, so it was a shame.

Daniel and the rest of the staff were absolutely amazing. The hotel property was so cool...there is nothing like staying right in a rainforest right next to the Pacific Ocean. The food was great, the beach was great...we have only wonderful things to say about this place. We would 100% recommend staying here. If waking up to a fresh breakfast while parrots, hummingbirds, sloths, and monkeys hang out in the forest nearby sounds like fun, you will love this place. Getting there isn't the easiest but pulling up to a beach by boat to get dropped off at your accommodation is about as incredible as it gets for me.
Everything was amazing
