Casa Vlad

The hosts were amazing and the place was absolutely fantastic! A true gem, that it's hard to find nowadays! They welcomed us with so much joy, and they did everything they could to make our stay perfect! Their property is so nicely decorated, Ludovic's own work ( all the wooden furniture and the stone work on the outside was of the house! and many other things). Food was delicious, all home made, with their own ingredients and the home-made cognac, vișinată and wine were adding a special flavour to the delightful dinner! We loved that Ludovic spent time with us showing us the property, the cellar, and sharing stories about the little museum they have on their property, and also a bit of a history of the region. Everything felt so nice and cozy and it was everything we needed after a few days hiking and camping in the beautiful Retezat mountains. The rooms were spotless, the furniture and decor were such a great combination of comfort, cozy and heartwarming space! This was a truly unique experience and we'd love to go back sometime! We cannot express enough our sincere appreciation for the warm welcome, great food and the amazing time we had at Casa Vlad! Thank you, dear hosts!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our stay here was simply unforgettable. This place truly is a little piece of heaven on earth, and without a doubt one of the most special accommodations we’ve ever visited. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. The hosts went above and beyond to make us feel at home, always making sure we had everything we could possibly need. Whether it was freshly brewed coffee, a delicious traditional Romanian breakfast, or offering the opportunity to enjoy homemade dinners prepared with local ingredients, every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. The property itself is absolutely breathtaking. Every piece of furniture and decoration has been handmade, creating an atmosphere that is both authentic and incredibly cosy. The owner’s impressive collection of antiques, beautifully displayed throughout the house, feels like walking through a private museum. Everywhere you look, you can see the love, passion, and dedication that have gone into creating this extraordinary place. What made our stay even more memorable was the genuine warmth of the hosts. Our children absolutely adored Didi from the very first moment. Despite constantly being busy cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the house and guests, she always found time to play with them, keep them entertained, and make them feel loved and included. By the end of our stay, they had become so attached to her that saying goodbye was truly emotional. And let’s not forget Kira, the adorable French Bulldog, and Tommy, the sweet little cat, who are attractions in their own right! They brought so much joy to our children and made the whole experience even more special. If you’re looking for a place that combines outstanding hospitality, authentic Romanian traditions, exceptional craftsmanship, and a peaceful atmosphere, look no further. Casa Roben was excellent. The previous night, we stayed in a smaller, traditional Romanian hotel, which too was excellent, just in different ways (that one was more homely and rustic). Casa Roben felt more like a modern Scandinavian or German hotel. It looked very new and modern and has either been very well looked after indeed, or has been very recently fitted out. The staff were excellent, most spoke very good English which was very helpful as we don't speak Romanian. One gentleman, I think the owner, helped me with a charging cable for my mobile phone. Without it I would have had to drive into town to buy another one, so that saved me a few hours. The breakfast was continental style buffet with cooked eggs and meat. My wife is very fussy about coffee and she liked the one they served here, so it must be very good indeed. The location is very good, it is in a beautiful spot at the base of some hills and there is a track to walk. Around the back of the hotel is a large pond with fish in and an integrated water fountain so if your room is at the rear, you will hear the flowing water which was very relaxing. The room was very large, clean and had a great balcony with privacy screens, one that you could actually use and sit out on, looking at a nice view. The shower room was large, the shower was superb.
