We both liked the friendly and helpful staff and relaxing atmosphere. There was a good selection of food and the portions were plentiful. We ate in an interesting restuarant which was a bit quirky. The area by the bar had several little open rooms off this, in which you can dine. We stayed one night and found our room was quite pleasant with wonderful views of the local countryside. There was a comfortable bed, wardrobe and arm chair. Our bathroom was across the corridor from the bedroom but was not shared with anyone.
I didn't like walking up and down the stairs to our room. I was informed in advance that all bedrooms were upstairs and there was no lift. Having a mobility problem, I thought that I could deal with this but I soon found it very tiring. Luckily, my husband was with me every time I used the stairs.

Location was good, very quiet location, excellent food and drink
Curtains in the room were ratty and stained, the shower curtain was well past its best. The tea and coffee offering was a messy muddle and should be streamlined

On a sunny day it would be nice to be a little remote in the hills
The bedroom had wall paper peeling and the windows had dirt in the corners. At night the lack of heating meant the windows were steaming with condensation
