The house is very clean and well maintained.the host has catered to a family's every need. Greatly appreciated its central location, friendly hosts and great linens.. P.s: the dogs did not pose us any problem. They stayed well separated from this particular yard.

Location, is great. It's comfortable and spacious. Comes with a lot of general supplies. Enjoyed the UPS back up system that allows you to have lights, the TV and WiFi during load shedding. Off street parking was nice

not a criticism as everything was perfect but as a regular traveller bathroom supplies of shampoo/shower gel would have been useful also my partner is not a dog fan so did say he thought we should have known about them before arrival.

Wonderful location. Homely, comfortable, open fire with wood and own generator for load shedding. To the uninitiated there are frequent scheduled electricity outages in SA. Cleverly the generator drove TV, Internet and other important facilities. Jo and Gary were friendly and helpful.

Lovely, friendly, responsive hosts - thanks for all the firewood! Central location close to the village. Plenty of heating devices/options to take the chill off when it got cold after sunset. The fruit were also a nice touch.

There is late-night noise from a bar nearby, although every establishment in the area would suffer from the same problem. Light sleepers may be bothered by this, although the downstairs room is a bit quieter. Suggestion: it might be worth putting a sign on the gate so that the entrance is easier to spot the first time.

Location, spacious rooms, friendly hosts, all amenities like fast internet, good TV, fully equipped kitchen. The house is perfect for long stay, in short time you feel like home. There is a nice sitting area in the garden, and an open fit´re inside the living room.

The dogs are barking a lot, but keep quite during night and will be necessary as guardians. Inside parking is a little complicated, but outside parking is safe, too.

What a beautiful cottage. The property was so thought out and so we’ll equipped - it exceeded my expectations and the hosts were amazing, so accommodating and considerate.

Location in Franschoek is amazing - within walking distance to restaurants, and the weekend market. You do not really need a car if you are spending most of your time in Central Franschoek. The cottage is hugely spacious, with 2 bedrooms with double bed and ensuite bathroom, a lounge, kitchen and dining area. The cottage is comfortable and sunny and secure, and was a perfect place for our family (2 couples).

On arrival, the cottage has no signage at all - one has to knock on the door of a strange house which has not been in any of the photos, and one is not quite sure what is going on. Then the host has to read to us all the rules and do's and don'ts - like we are in Kindergarten. However appreciated being shown the security locks and how to put the alarm on. Perhaps the gate to the rear of the property where the cottage it, should have a sign "Jonquil Cottage" - it would be easier for guests to identify.

The host has met as personally, has shown the facilities of the appartment. All the quieries were solved immeaditely. The cottage is fully equipped for your perfect stay. Location is simply perfect, you will be in the center of life of Franschhouek. Enjoy your stay at Jo's cottage and get the most from your trip!

Everything was perfect

Stunning location, just a block away from the hustle and bustle of Franschhoek and within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and the wine tram. It was wonderful to be able to sit on the patio and enjoy the braai facilities. The kitchen was well appointed and the space was perfect for 4 of us. Jo was friendly and the fresh fruit and chocolates were a lovely touch. I appreciated the basics of coffee, tea etc. which is an added bonus when self catering.

With us eating all of our meals at the cottage I would have expected more dishwashing tablets to be provided. We had exactly just enough dishwashing liquid to wash the dishes before we left, down to the very last drop.

Privacy and spacious cottage situated in the heart of a lovely town. Own private entrance into the property and it is very safe and secure.

The cutlery and crockery can do with an upgrade. Chips on plates and cracks in some glasses. But this is an easy and cheap fix . The owner probably not aware of it. Perhaps consider complimentary shower gel as this is one thing lots of guests will probably forget to pack. And firewood for the fireplace will be awesome. Otherwise a lovely homely breakaway

Jonquil Cottage is conveniently located a block away from the high street in Franschhoek. The location and its surroundings is quiet and peaceful enough to relax and unwind, while coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, tapas bar, stores, the Franschhoek Saturday Market, ATMs, etc just around the corner - a short 5 minute walk away. While I am personally not always keen to rent holiday accommodation located on the same property as the homeowners (this is only due to a bad holiday experience under these conditions in the past), to our delight our hosts at Jonquil Cottage, Jo and Gary, were absolutely wonderful! We were met with a warm welcome and immediately made to feel relaxed, comfortable and at home. We thoroughly enjoyed the privacy of the clean, spacious cottage which is beautifully decorated, with enough room for our family of 4 (two adults, two teens) along with all essentials and facilities on hand exactly as advertised. Gary took it upon himself to kindly restock our firewood when bad weather was imminent on the second day of our stay, which was very thoughtful and highly appreciated! I noted the very few (minor) complaints/negatives in one or two of the reviews regarding this accommodation before we departed for our stay. (A quick comment: We experienced no issues with connectivity/speed of the free Wi-Fi available throughout our stay.) While we have zero complaints and experienced absolutely no negatives for the duration of our stay - if holidaymakers should come across an issue during their stay at Jonquil Cottage and simply bring it to Jo or Gary's attention - I honestly get the impression that if it is within their control, the hosts will sincerely make every effort to swiftly resolve the issue and set the matter straight immediately in order for the holidaymakers to continue enjoying their stay. A most memorable and amazing stay in a wonderful town with great hosts! A well recommended holiday destination - we will definitely be back!
