My stay at Novotel in New Town, Kolkata, was a masterclass in both. As a paraplegic traveler, accessibility is my priority. The hotel ensured my room met every expectation. Doors were perfectly wide for effortless wheelchair maneuvering. The room was thoughtfully engineered for independence, featuring a lowered sink, accessible towel racks, and sturdy guardrails. They even accommodated my request for a plastic chair with handles, allowing me to safely enjoy a shower seated. The culinary experience was equally impressive. Every meal was fresh—a fundamental detail that matters. The dishes were amazingly ingrained with authentic Indian spices, yet at no point did the food feel heavy, oily, or unhealthy; the balance was optimum. The staff were exceptionally well-mannered, providing the attentive service expected from a property of this stature. I must reserve my highest praise for Jyoti Nandi, my contact before making reservations. I was extremely careful about setting expectations, sharing wheelchair dimensions and needing precise assurances regarding door widths. Jyoti handled my requests with unparalleled promptness and empathy. She personally coordinated with the engineering and backend teams to verify measurements and ensure accurate information reached me immediately. For me, Jyoti Nandi is the face of Novotel. Her attitude and commitment set a gold standard, demonstrating how one person’s dedication can profoundly impact a guest's experience. If I return to Novotel, the main reason will be Jyoti. She has built such profound trust that I blindly recommend this property to my family and elderly travelers. This immaculate thoroughness shows the heights of inclusivity the hospitality industry can achieve.

If there is one minor area for enhancement, it would be the addition of a small, accessible coffee table that can seamlessly double as an in-room dining surface. While the room does feature a wooden desk attached to the wall, this space is naturally occupied by the electric kettle, water bottles, and various tea and coffee provisions, making it unsuitable for a comfortable dining experience. Introducing a dedicated, versatile coffee table—ideally paired with two comfortable chairs—would beautifully elevate the room's layout and aesthetic appeal. Not only would it provide a practical hub for meals, working, or keeping daily essentials organized, but it would also grant guests an adaptable surface at the perfect height. For guests using wheelchairs, having this accessible, uncluttered space is a tremendous boost to independence. Implementing this simple addition would seamlessly take your already outstanding room design to absolute perfection.

Break fast was good but the staff managing the same are bit slow may be due to rush hour

Rooms are small and the lobby is often over-crowded because of corporate events.

The breakfast was the most pathetic experience. There were lots of good food options. But long wait to get a table and understaffed facilities mean you can hardly explore those. Even the tables were not properly cleaned.
