Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the condition and cleanliness of the property and feel it is only fair to formally raise these issues and request a partial refund for our stay. We want to make clear that we are not particularly high-maintenance guests. We stay in similar large group properties every year and are more than happy to “take it back to basics” when needed. However, this property was clearly not cleaned or properly prepared before our arrival and is well overdue a deep clean and general refresh. From the moment we arrived, the property felt dirty, dusty, and poorly maintained throughout. The bedding smelt used rather than freshly laundered, and several bed sheets had visible marks and stains on them. The bathrooms were particularly concerning — the main bath contained pubic hairs on arrival, and one of the showers was covered in short hairs, clearly left behind from somebody shaving prior to our stay. The shower heads themselves were also filthy, and the shower itself was extremely crew small and uncomfortable to use. In the kitchen, plates, mugs, glasses, and cutlery all needed washing before use because they were dirty straight out of the cupboards. The kettle and teapot were so full of limescale that we ended up purchasing a new kettle ourselves simply so we could make drinks hygienically. There was also no hand soap or cleaning products provided, which felt inappropriate for a property accommodating such a large group. Even the first aid kit had clearly not been checked in years, with one of the bandages having expired in 2004, which honestly reflected the general lack of upkeep throughout the property. In addition to the cleanliness concerns, the beds were very uncomfortable, the downstairs of the property was extremely cold while the upstairs became unbearably hot with the heating on, and the upstairs floorboards creaked so severely that anyone moving around woke the rest of the house.

Beautiful location in a spacious well laid out cottage

lovely place and area but a shame about the noise of the floor boards as otherwise a perfect property.

Brilliant place to celebrate our son’s 40th birthday, ticked all the boxes, thoroughly enjoyable.

The Barn is fantastic for families. Our ages ranged from 10 - 68 and everyone was catered for. Kitchen fully stocked with crockery, glasses and pans if you want to cook. Great to have 2 fridges which came in very useful. Pleasant surroundings and very quiet. Bedrooms very comfortable, only 1 double bed but the other rooms are spacious with 3 en-suite and 1 family bathroom. Downstairs bedroom perfect for anyone with disabilities as full wet room. Barn was lovely and warm but easy to adjust the heating to suit.

Floorboards upstairs very creaky but only to be expected and didn’t cause much problem. Towels and linen a little tired.
