Četri Vēji

In short, if you love the sea and plan to spend most of your time by it, then this is a good choice. A clear advantage of Četri Vēji is the distance to the sea. You simply need to cross the meadow, traverse the local gravel road (mostly used by locals coming to the seaside or simply wanting to watch the sunset from the cliffside while by their cars), and descend the wooden steps (which are a bit tilted and broken in places but still usable) and you are right by the sea! I believe it is precisely this great value that encourages people to return. There is a car parking area, or rather two: one right next to the large building with the communal kitchen (which is usually full), and another just inside the entrance. The latter is often nearly empty, so parking is never an issue, though it does mean a short walk - roughly the distance of one house - to your accommodation (we used to park there ourselves, as having more space around the car feels safer). Walking along the coast, the trip to Jūrkalne doesn't feel long (for example if you need something from the shop), so you can do without a car while staying here - an unusual yet pleasant experience. The shared kitchen features a refrigerator where you can store food, as well as a communal breakfast area. It's just a shame that the glass doors leading directly to the courtyard were locked, because there were 2 small tables on the terrace that would be an ideal place to have a quiet morning coffee while in the courtyard. Since the grounds are quite large, there are wooden tables with benches where you can sit in the evening - and perhaps even light a campfire (?) - though we didn't try that (we weren't sure if it was allowed, as we didn't happen to meet the owners). Četri Vēji is situated at a sufficient distance from the main paved road, so at least for us the noise of passing cars did not disturb the peace.

Our room was quite compact (suitable for sleeping, but not for spending time in). Not only did we have to share the bathroom with another room, but a Polish couple’s belongings (including their swimsuits) were constantly left lying around in it; we felt like uninvited guests in someone else’s home. There is no ventilation in the bathroom, so the door was sometimes left wide open to allow at least some of the accumulated moisture to escape. For those seeking more privacy, it is worth noting that Četri Vēji offer separate cottages available for rent to an entire family or a group of friends; this would certainly make for a much cozier experience, as there would be no need to share a bathroom or kitchen. We chose this location partly because the Q&A section included the answer: "We have dedicated charging spots on the property for EV charging; please ask the staff." But NO, there is no possibility to charge electric cars on-site. Upon arrival, I didn't see a charging point(-s), so I sent a message to Četri Vēji (via booking.com) but received no reply. I got no answer at all - neither that day nor the next. However, when I asked a local staff member, she told me that charging is possible... at a public charging station in the town of Jurkalnė (that’s good, but it’s not the same as charging on-site, as it was promised). By the way, I saw electrical outlets here (see attached photo) - presumably installed for campers - but, unfortunately, I wasn't offered the chance to use them either.

We had a wonderful stay at Četri Vēji. The place is very peaceful, clean and comfortable, surrounded by beautiful nature and very close to the sea. The apartment had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We especially enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, the terrace and the beautiful seaside. A perfect place to escape from the city and enjoy some peaceful time with family. We would happily come back!

Nothing to complain about. Everything met our expectations.

The propery is very close to sea. that is great. Kitchen is well organised and complete with all necessary household appliances. Very nice dining room with nice view. comfortable check in and key location.

Location is good, near the see!

Too much flys and spiders in the bobbltent! Very hot inside! Could be cleaner!
