The White Hart Hotel

The hotel was great, as expected for an old building it was a maze of corridors and stair and some of the floors were definitely on the wonk but it added to the charm but what really stood out was the superb staff, particularly Andy and Mikael. We used it as a central base to explore the area, visiting Heligan, Eden, Tintagael, Padstowe, Charlestown and Newquay. The hotel bar were lively and the restaurant menu has a wide range of options. We ate there twice in the evening and the breakfasts were just what you needed for a full day's exploring. The rooms were comfortable and had everything you would need and for once had decent sized bath towels. The car park isn't huge but we always managed to find a space. We got taxi's there and down to Charlestown which has more going on but the hotel prices reflect that. Had great food at both the The Longstore (thanks Andy for the recommendation) and Rebellion Roast.

Sadly St Austell itself is quite run down with only one pub in walking distance which we only had one drink in and no restaurants of note but again we got a taxi down to Charlestown to visit the Rashleigh Arms which was buzzing. Also the St Austell Brewery is also a great place to visit, get a taxi because you will want to sample the wares.

Breakfast was excellent. Lots of choices for you. We had lunch on the first day which completely filled us up. The staff are excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them.

It was a room booked for two adults. Two room keys would have been good.

Staff were lovely and cleaner did the best job they could. Outside of the building is gorgeous. Parking on opposite side of the road is convenient and you get given a pass code, also free.

The smells coming up from the restaurant in to the rooms. The musky smells within the room because it’s such an old building. Although the cleaner did a good job, the rooms need a redo. Furniture worn, carpet worn, bathroom needed new flooring and sealant. Needs freshening up, some deep cleaning and nice smelling diffusers.
