Abbey Hotel Roscommon

Lovely location. Central yet quiet. Lots of shops nearby. Liked the breakfast times. Selection of cereals, yoghurt fruit and juices good.

The hot food really could have been better, first morning food was quite sparce and what was there was very dry. 2nd morning, not as bad but still could be improved.

The location was great, easy to park and it was an easy walk into Roscommon town. The rooms were spacious and the dinner at the bar was really good as well as the staff were extremely friendly.

Unfortunately the overall freshness of the property could have been a bit better, there was a smell throughout the hotel and rooms that reminded me of an old persons home. Perhaps more airing of the property would help, it just felt a bit stuffy and therefore unpleasant throughout. The pool area and sauna could also have been a bit more clean, there is no strict rules or nearby showers of people going from the sauna/steam room into the plunge pool which felt a bit unhygienic when using the facilities.

I loved my room, the staff and the area.

Apparently a member of staff was very rude to a family member which she found very upsetting. I believe she was going to lodge a complaint.

I would like to raise two concerns regarding my recent stay. Firstly, I had specifically requested a wedding anniversary wish card and a bottle of wine to be arranged in the room, but unfortunately, this request was not fulfilled. Secondly, I found the staff to be unwelcoming, with an attitude that came across as arrogant and lacking a willingness to help. I have been booking different hotels through Booking.com for the past five to seven years, and this is the first time I have experienced such a disappointing level of service at a resort. I hope these concerns will be taken seriously and addressed appropriately.
