Hôtel - Restaurant & Spa La Magdeleine - Mathias Dandine

Very peaceful hotel with a beautiful outdoor terrace under the trees and birdsong, and great breakfast. Close to a nature reserve which I recommend walking to as it is super beautiful. Pool is nice and quiet.

1. Rooms are in need of a refresh. We booked a “junior suite” which was v dark and dated, would have been ok given the price is reasonable but the air conditioning broke halfway through our stay and was never fixed. No one even apologised to us or tried to remedy the situation despite asking three times, instead they merely offered us one day of free breakfast when we complained again at check out while simultaneously trying to charge us for a second day of breakfast we never had. Meanwhile we had sweated away in bed, even waking at 3am to find a security guard who very kindly got us a fan. 2. No real gym just a couple pieces of equipment outside. There are 2 E-bikes which are never charged. 3. Pool is nice and peaceful but if you are expecting to be able to order drinks or have some kind of service at the pool this is not the hotel for that.

The garden is magnificent. Also rooms are comfortable, only the entrance is tight and squeezed in the room and the elevator is very small but they are very welcoming

Tre stelle, non una di più. L’hotel ha formalmente 5 stelle, ma l’esperienza offerta è, a mio giudizio, ben lontana dagli standard che tale classificazione dovrebbe rappresentare. Premetto che l’intero ecosistema della struttura sembra ruotare attorno al ristorante, che non ho provato. Limitandomi quindi alla componente alberghiera, il quadro è piuttosto deludente: la struttura necessita chiaramente di un importante intervento di manutenzione e riqualificazione. L’edificio storico dell’Ottocento avrebbe un grande potenziale, ma è scarsamente valorizzato. Gli ambienti risultano spogli, l’arredamento è scarno e privo di particolare carattere. E attenzione: non parliamo di minimalismo ricercato o di design essenziale, ma semplicemente di una sensazione generale di povertà dell’allestimento, difficilmente compatibile con un 5 stelle. Capitolo aria condizionata: impianto canalizzato evidentemente datato e poco efficace. In un hotel a 5 stelle, se imposto 20 °C in camera, devo poter ottenere una temperatura ragionevolmente vicina a quella richiesta. Qui, invece, il massimo risultato è un generico “fresco moderato”. A queste tariffe, è inaccettabile. Il bagno è altrettanto poco convincente: assenza della doccia, con la sola vasca disponibile, e soprattutto un phon fisso a muro estremamente datato, dall’estetica anni ’90 e più adatto a un vecchio centro congressi che a una struttura di lusso. Anche la colazione lascia parecchio a desiderare. Il personale è chiaramente insufficiente rispetto al livello e al numero degli ospiti, con un servizio che ne risente inevitabilmente. Ma ciò che mi ha lasciato davvero sbalordito è stata l’assenza di latte intero. Alla mia richiesta mi è stato semplicemente risposto che la struttura serve soltanto latte parzialmente scremato. In un hotel a 5 stelle, una risposta del genere è francamente surreale: non stiamo parlando di una richiesta particolare o sofisticata, ma di latte intero a colazione.
