This place was fantastic! One of the nicest Booking.com properties we've ever stayed in. It was spotlessly clean, decorated beautifully, very homely and so peaceful. The location is perfect- right in the heart of Alston. There is a Co-op literally over the road that's open till 10pm everyday, and a couple of lovely pubs and cafes. There is free parking in the village square right outside. We instantly felt at home here and loved our stay so much that we've already booked to come back again!

The bathroom extractor fan is very loud! But I guess there isn't much that can be done about that, as the bathroom doesn't have a window so I'm sure it needs a good quality fan to keep it damp free. This is honestly the only thing I can think of! Other than that, this place is perfect!

Very quiet peaceful location. Cottage was very quirky, shower lovely bed very comfortable .

Nothing! Slight issue with TV remote but it certainly didn’t spoil our stay.

A lovely location and 1 bed ground floor flat. Nicely laid out, easy access to local shops and cafes.

Sadly the experience was tainted by the very poor communication. I had messaged Peter via booking.com at 9am the morning before our booking to say I would require the sofa bed. I didnt receive a reply. The next day when we arrived there was no bedding for the sofa bed. There was no phone signal in the property, so I called the number listed and received no answer. I sent a text, and got a reply asking if I had booked for the sofa bed and it was going to cost £30 for the extra linen, he appeared very disgruntled so I said we would manage. He said there was a quilt and pillows under the bed. There wasn't. I communicated this. No reply. I then sent messages via booking.com to say this, and again there was no reply. No attempt to contact to see if we were ok, or find a solution. My friend and I are resourceful so we managed with extra fleecy blankets. It appears he lives further away. There wasn't an option to contact via WhatsApp which would have solved the lack of signal in the property. I feel this man probably doesn't really know what he is doing or recognises the implications of problems which may arise. Which is sad because it is a lovely property and, had he communicated properly, I would have brought along extra bedding. The cleaning - the kitchen was ok. My friend has a cat allergy and sneezed the whole time. Under the bed was dirty and dog hair on the sofas.
