We were looking for a spot to break our journey -- so glad we picked this one.
The Alvanley Arms is a 400 year-old coaching house that has been beautifully restored. The bar area is a treat: all William Morris and Farrow & Ball. ;-)
Our room was cosy and comfortable. Breakfast was terrific -- just a shame that we couldn't hang around for Sunday lunch, which reportedly is the best in the area.
All I would say is that if stairs are an issue, there is no lift. There's lots of help with your luggage but, ultimately, you need to be able to climb the few steepish stairs to get to your room.
