From the moment we arrived, Dona Clarita and her family welcomed my partner and I with open arms. We had wonderful conversations, hearing all about the history of Dona Clarita Inn and loved getting to know everyone. Dona Clarita's banana bread is AMAZING, and the dinner/breakfast were delicious and filling after a long day of hiking. The room was perfect for us and everything was super clean.

The lodging is located right on the Quilotoa Route and is easy to get to. The welcome is warm, and the rooms are very clean and cozy. The hosts’ hospitality is outstanding. A charming, family-run place to stay. The food was delicious—the freshly baked banana bread was a highlight! This would be my first choice if I ever return to the area.

This was our third time staying a Hostal Doña Clarita, and it certainly wasn't by accident. Each time there has left us with special memories of the Doña Clarita's family and her hostal. The beds are comfortable, the showers warm, and the hospitality exceptional. We were greeted with fresh banana bread, cookies, and hot beverages. One of our travelers arrived from the day's hike (we were doing the Quilatoa Loop) with a bit of altitude sickness, so they made her a special dinner and brewed a magical tea, which helped her rest more easily and wake ready for the next day's hike. We enjoyed a cold beer in the backyard garden, which overlooks the valley we had just hiked up. Family style dining is the norm here, as it is in most hostels we've stayed at in Ecuador. It didn't disappoint - as we reconnected with our new friends from the previous day's hike and met new ones who were also sharing in our adventure. We'll stay again!

If you stay anywhere in Chugchilan on the Quilotoa Loop, let it be Hostal Dona Clarita! Everything from our first warm greeting, to our incredible room, delicious breakfasts and dinner blew us away. Dona Clarita and her family are wonderful and we felt so welcomed. We'd happily stay here again one day and recommend it for all travellers/backpackers/hikers alike
