Our room was affordable and pleasant and provided us with enough space. Our hosts were also friendly and flexible, allowing us to check in a few hours ahead of schedule after our train's early arrival and helping us arrange a cab to the airport on our departure.

The homestay is quite far from the Madurai city center, and my friend and I often had trouble convincing auto-rickshaws to drive us to or from our destination (neither Ola nor Uber work well in Madurai). We also initially thought that our room was only accessible by walking through the living room of the family hosting us (the family only clarified on our last day that there was a separate, partially hidden entrance to the area with our room).

少し街に行くのに遠いです。

La familia es maravillosa. Son súper simpáticos, y como viajaba sola fueron muy cariñosos conmigo. El lugar es muy apropiado para mochileros. Me alojé en un apartamento independiente que era super espacioso y tenía A/C. Me hicieron desayuno indio y continental buenísimo!! Y super amables me pidieron y organizaron un taxi para el aeropuerto. Mil gracias!!

En Europa estamos acostumbrados a mayor limpieza en los baños, pero estaba bien!

Quelle magnifique expérience dans cette homestay ! Elle est à taille humaine, c est-à-dire qu il y a seulement un dortoir de 4 et une chambre. On a fait de formidables rencontres. Les hôtes sont hypers gentils et vous donnent plein de bons conseils sur la ville et un coup de main si vous avez besoin. Les lits sont très confos et la chambre est propre. Ça fait 3 mois que je voyage en Inde et j ai rarement eu un séjour de cette qualité 🙏 Je recommande à mille pourcent 🥰

Everyone was very welcoming and available to solve any necessity or doubt. I got to experience Pongal together and it was such a great experience. Since there are both rooms and dorm it gives you the chance to meet other travelers too. Highly recommended.

Very clean, nice terrace, comfortable bed, friendly and caring hosts, good neighbourhood. We also had breakfast cooked by the host and it was very good and fulfilling.

Location, as we had to take taxi to get to the city center. Not so many food options, but the ones available have tasty food

The rooms and communal area upstairs is clean and well maintained just like on the photos, a great place to meet fellow travellers. It is set in a quiet, leafy residential area away from the noise and dust of Madurai. The breakfast downstairs in the family kitchen was tasty and plentiful. There was a little book with suggestions for sightseeing and advice regarding places to eat nearby

The trek from central Madurai was a bit annoying, even more so the continuous rip offs or even scams of tuk tuk drivers, trying their hardest to squeeze an extra Rupie out of us. Sadly, we only had a few nice and courteous drivers in this city. The recommended restaurants in the area were not great and meant a walk through dark alleyways (not recommended for single travelling women), so it’s either eating in the city of ordering food. The eating area for breakfast could be cleaner

Lovely hosts, very welcoming. Dinner was delicious. Very helpfull with advice and local knowledge. Got me a coffee at 530am because I had an early start 👍 Room size is what you would expect in a homestay but had everything I needed including a large patio area and great view of the lake. I'd stay again if I'm ever in Madurai.

Two things worth mentioning. In the interests of private and easy accessibility to the accomodation area they have installed a spiral staircase. If you are elderly or at least not so spritely you might find this a challenge. I'm 67 and it didn't worry me. The alternative would be the entrance through the house I guess. The other thing is the poor state of the main road leading to the homestay... I didn't mind at all and I mainly use tuk tuks ......
