Builda Park inn

Clean, spacious, friendly staff. Good location for the purpose of our visit. Good breakfast and room service!

Two things: hot water was not running in one of the bathrooms in our room. A weird loud creaking noise would start at 8:30 am and stop late in the evening. We did let the reception know but nothing was done.

The suite room I was in was really spacious , well lit , the staff were friendly , breakfast was great too - over all comfortable and pleasant stay - would recommend for sure .

The room was spacious and well-appointed. The bathroom was also good enough. The linen was clean (towels, bedsheets etc). The housekeeper was pleasant and accomodating and did a good job. Their gym is good and well-equipped. They have decent recreational facilities for a hotel in Ottapalam - a pool, a badminton court, a garden/courtyard. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful. (The first room we were allotted had some issues, but they changed the room as soon as we pointed these out and the replacement room was fine).

The restaurant, cafe and spa that are shown on the website are non-existent. They claim that the restaurant was closed because of the shortage of commercial gas for cooking, but that issue was resolved months ago. Basically they have not re-hired kitchen staff and are trying to manage with a very skeletal restaurant crew. Breakfast is a buffet that is catered by them from an outside supplier, never available before 8.45 am, and neither hot nor of good quality - and boiled eggs were the only egg option available. In such a situation one would expect the restaurant staff to step up, but they act as if they are doing us a favour. Restaurant cleanliness was just so-so, some of the items were left open. No lunch or dinner, or snacks are available in-house. On the first night of our stay they offered a limited set menu that we could order from and this was catered from outside. After that we ordered-in food from wherever we preferred to. We had to extend our stay by 2 weeks beyond the initial week, and stayed on only because it is close to my family home, where some work was going on, and where we needed to be. Else we would have moved out much earlier. Builda Park Inn is acceptable for a 1 or 2 night stay. Beyond that I would not recommend it. A pity, because for people who need to be in and around Thottakara it is well-located, and the rooms are good. From experience I feel that the owners perhaps need to pay a lot more attention to how they manage the place. And, while the other staff in general were helpful, my impression was that no one seemed happy to be working there.
