Galata Dream Hotel

Location

Staff was really great, went out of their way for us throughout the trip. Helping with luggage/bags, lending us umbrellas, etc. Balcony was really nice as well, and location was easy to get to and from all public transportation (no need for taxis). Be aware that it is very uphill but definitely doable and convenient.

Room was a little small, we often found ourselves bumping into the furniture but if you are traveling light it should not be a problem (we were not lol).

- Excellent location, between Galata and Karaköy, in a very pleasant area of Istanbul. The metro is about a 5-minute walk away, while tram and ferry stations are around 10 minutes away. - Good Turkish-style breakfast. Although it is served rather than buffet-style, there was a good variety of cheeses, cold cuts, tomatoes, cucumbers, bread and sesame bread, fresh seasonal fruit, eggs, and a choice of tea and coffee. - Spacious room, with a small kitchen area (although without cooking facilities), which could be useful for longer stays. - Spacious shower. - Comfortable pillows. - The staff were kind and helpful.

- The main issue is noise. The windows are quite thin and the hotel faces a relatively busy street, so light sleepers may find it difficult to sleep. The curtains also do not block out all the light. - The windows cannot really be left open for ventilation: they only allow a very small opening at the bottom, which cannot be properly secured. - The bathroom sink was quite small. - The bed was somewhat too soft for my preference. - Room cleaning and replenishment could be more consistent. On some days towels were replaced but shower gel was not, while on other days toilet paper or the complimentary water was not replenished. - A small detail at breakfast: when two guests from the same booking were sitting together, on a few occasions only one portion of certain items, such as eggs or sesame bread, was served.
