Kilmacale House

Lovely proprietor, great location, the breakfast was the best we had in the trip.

One of our two beds had a very saggy mattress. The other was perfect. Recommend replacing that mattress and it would be all top marks!

What a location - spectacular. Overlooking the bay, with an amazing view. The house itself was looking so nice, with a beautiful garden, and we got a specious room on the second floor, looking directly at the water. Very nice hosts, too. The closest towns were Clonakilty and Bandon, with plenty of restaurants and cafes there. We found a very good restaurant (The Wild Restaurant Cork) in the neighboring village of Ballinspittle, just a 10-min drive there, and not to forget the Flaxfort Cafe (just 2-min drive from the house) where the coffees and cakes were delicious. The Kilmacale house is a good starting point to explore the furthest points of interest in West Cork, but as we've done these in the past, more than once, we kept travelling to the closer ones - the Old Head, and the beaches on the way there, Union Hall and Glendore, the Long Strand and the Galley Head, Inchydoney Beach. The neighboring towns of Timoleague and Courtmacsherry are worth paying a visit, too. All of these amazing, and the beautiful sunshine and the clear blue skies were a bonus. Not to mention Kinsale, that is a must for everyone visiting the area.

TV showed a "No Signal" message for most of the time we spent in the house.
