This was the perfect place to stay for vacation with our whole family. Our 3 sons and their kiddos and my in-laws. Short walk to the beach and perfect amount of space. What a beautiful home with a beautiful outdoor patio and great neighborhood.

We LOVED our week at the Sand Castle!!! It is so big and roomy….everyone having comfortable space! It is extremely well appointed….a short walk to the beach….so easy to communicate with Doug. We would love to return to this perfect lake house!! :)

What a wonderful stay! The host family was so accommodating and their home was simply lovely. Everything you could possibly need in a home away from home. Lovely little neighborhood close to the beach and just a short drive to attractions. Highly recommend.

The Sand Castle provided a wonderful weekend getaway for a family celebration. The amenities provided were amazing - we definitely could have packed lighter. The kitchen is very well stocked. The house is spacious and offered room to gather and room to relax. The Kids Cave was a huge hit with the 4 kids we had with us. The proximity to a private beach on Lake Erie and other nearby attractions was perfect. Thank you for sharing your lovely home!

Communication prior and thru the stay was great. We were welcomed to arrive early which was great. We had a chance to settle in before our 4 grown children, spouses and 5 grands arrived. The hosts were so kind to leave up the Christmas decorations to add to the festive occasion of our family gathering. The home was beyond expectations. VERY comfortably accomodated each family unit with plenty of room to spread out, relax, play games, watch movies. Many of us brought our own crockpots, large cookie sheets and pans as we shared cooking detail. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the well stocked kitchen. The kitchen was open, welcoming and comfortable to cook and visit in. We took family walks to the beach area and took the kids to the local neighborhood park. Would highly recommend and hope to come back!

We had a great time in this beautiful house! Very kid friendly and convenient, and the home looked recently updated. Lots of space for the whole family and awesome kitchen! We can’t wait to come back!

We were appreciative of the spacious accommodations as we gathered to celebrate our 50th anniversary a year later. We were a large group of 16 coming together from across the East coast. The 4 grandkids loved the beach and the Kids Cave. The kitchen was spacious and fun with each couple cooking a meal for all and letting ‘Mom’ off the hook. Wonderful time was enjoyed by all. Will definitely come again.

Our families from Pennsylvania and Illinois met here for our family Thanksgiving and the place was wonderful! Huge and very well stocked kitchen really made the time wonderful since we all gather in the kitchen. Plenty of space for everyone to relax throughout the house. Very clean and comfortable. Neighborhood location was great. Even though it was chilly outside it was a short walk through the neighborhood and we were able enjoy seeing the lake and walk along the beach.

Wonderful place for family Thanksgiving gathering
Our families from Pennsylvania and Illinois met here for our family Thanksgiving and the place was wonderful! We all loved this house! Our 3 year old grandson kept saying “I like this house”. I love the fact that they had 3 king bedrooms. All the bedrooms were beautiful. The guys loved the man cave to watch football and the little red fridge for their beer! My daughter-in-law took pictures of what she called her dream kitchen. The house is sprawling, so you don’t feel crowded. Huron is a cute little town, with friendly people and good restaurants. We are moving back to Vermilion, so it was nice to get to know Huron better. Thank you to the owners !

Sand Castle
We all loved this house! Our 3 year old grandson kept saying “I like this house”. I love the fact that they had 3 king bedrooms. All the bedrooms were beautiful. The guys loved the man cave to watch football and the little red fridge for their beer! My daughter-in-law took pictures of what she called her dream kitchen. The house is sprawling, so you don’t feel crowded. Huron is a cute little town, with friendly people and good restaurants. We are moving back to Vermilion, so it was nice to get to know Huron better. Thank you to the owners !

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the lovely Sand Castle. The house itself was clean, open, comfortable, and well stocked with everything we seemed to need. Best equipped kitchen I’ve ever seen in a rental. So much great sports equipment and games. Lovely neighborhood. The only caution is that it’s a bit of a cellular dead zone, so if any members of your group insist on working all the way through vacation and need cell service to do so, they might be frustrated. But the house itself is everything we could have hoped for!

with all the conveniences of home. The large house was great for the 12 of us to have lots of space. The grandkids loved the third floor play area. The beach was great and the playground near the house is very nice. We wished we could have stayed longer and hope to go back soon! Huron is a very friendly town!

Best equipped kitchen I’ve ever seen in a rental. So much great sports equipment and games. Lovely neighborhood. The only caution is that it’s a bit of a cellular dead zone, so if any members of your group insist on working all the way through vacation and need cell service to do so, they might be frustrated. But the house itself is everything we could have hoped for!

Our Covid bubble is 3 households- 7 adults, 4 kids ages 1-6. We NEEDED a new environment and time as a village so everyone was able to rejuvenate. We stayed here in September 2020 for the same purpose and knew this was the place for us again. I can’t wait until the kids are a little older and can entertain themselves and have a slumber party in the Kids Cave upstairs The bald eagle nest nearby was particularly special to our nature-loving group. We’re so glad it wasn’t 10* during our stay so we were able to enjoy walks around the neighborhood and the snowy beach. Other than that we hardly left the house this time and just relaxed, but within 10 min drive there’s a nature preserve, fishing pier/lighthouse, marinas, etc for anyone wanting to venture out more. The owners are extremely helpful and responsive and the kitchen is a dream. There are lots of little details for families w young kids (books, plastic plates and cups, bed rail under bunk bed if needed, etc) but not obtrusive if just adults. I highly recommend this property for a group getaway any time of year, just bring a few baby gates if there are any crawling/toddling littles.

The perfect house for our extended family
Our extended family met in Ohio (halfway between Wisconsin and New Jersey), and this home was perfect for us. Altogether there were 6 adults and 5 children. And we still had bedrooms to spare!
The kitchen is big, with an open floor plan with living room and family rooms, which was great for hanging out. We made s’mores on the patio with the fire pit, and the kids had fun biking on the quiet street (and made friends with some friendly neighborhood kids their age).
Right around the corner is a little park with a playground and tennis / pickle ball court. We got to play pickle ball for the first time with the paddles and balls from the house. It was a ton of fun.
The beach is a short walk down the street, and we biked the couple miles to the lighthouse pier.
Maggie’s restaurant recommendations were excellent, and she was super responsive ahead of and during our stay.
The only downside at all was we could hear the train at night. So bring a sound machine if you’re a really light sleeper and that would bother you, but that is far outweighed by the many fantastic things about the home and the neighborhood. We loved it!

The Kids Cave gave the kids a great place to be and sleep together and the adults took advantage of the large kitchen and multiple living spaces. Bedrooms were large enough and everyone slept well! We loved the close proximity to the beach and took advantage of it every day. We brought our own beach things, but it was awesome that there were things at the house to take to the beach if needed. The only reason I took a star off for cleanliness is because the house is under renovation in several areas and that was something we were unaware of. Construction dust is understandable and the owners have done a great job at keeping that to a minimum! We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again!!

Multiple Family stay before School starts!
What an amazing house for a multiple family stay!! Plenty of places for adults and kids to be happy, but separate. The Kids Cave gave the kids a great place to be and sleep together and the adults took advantage of the large kitchen and multiple living spaces. Bedrooms were large enough and everyone slept well!
We loved the close proximity to the beach and took advantage of it every day. We brought our own beach things, but it was awesome that there were things at the house to take to the beach if needed.
The only reason I took a star off for cleanliness is because the house is under renovation in several areas and that was something we were unaware of. Construction dust is understandable and the owners have done a great job at keeping that to a minimum!
We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again!!

Perfect for Large Families!
This house has amazing character. We found it better than pictured and our expectations! The decorating is a perfect blend of classic with contemporary. There has been lots of work put into renovations, which are not complete, but in no way affected the stay of our extended family. It has such a nice layout with room for family games in the living room/ sun room/ dining room open area or in the yard. Or at times, the 8 boys watched TV & played electronics in the family room while the 4 girls played on the 3rd floor and the adults visited around the huge kitchen island/ dining room area. The house was well stocked with everything we needed, much more than advertised. Also, there were disinfectant products to maintain cleanliness. It is nicely situated close to a neighborhood park, a beautiful beach, the local grocery store & a pharmacy. Any issue we had was resolved immediately by the owners who were responsive and a pleasure to deal with. We will definitely return for another visit!
