it was very clean and close to wakuya station. endo-san, who checked us in, was very friendly.

there was only one shower and toilet

I was the only guest during my stay, so I basically had the whole building to myself as the guesthouse was unstaffed at night. In fact, after I checked in and they walked me through the facilities, the staff went home. Each room has 4 beds that are futon laid out in individual coves, and each person has a locker at the foot of their bed to keep their personal belongings. There is also a safe in every room for friends and family that booked the whole room. Rooms are also under lock and key when you leave the guest house. Overall about as secure as any household. There is also free wifi so internet connection is decent. The bathrooms they have in the place are your typical prefab bath units, and those are usually already compact, but the ones here are a lot smaller. However, if you're just showering, it's more than sufficient. If you want to take a soak, there is fortunately a local hot spring facility about 10 minutes drive away (or a 30 minutes walk), but take note they're closed every Wednesday so plan your trip accordingly if you plan to visit the hot spring. Breakfast was made and refrigerated, with free coffee and tea available. Despite being refrigerated overnight, it still tasted great. For 500 yen, I'd say it's pretty decent. Would stay again in the future when I'm in the area.

1 minute walk from Wakuya Station. Simple remodeled old Japanese style home a blend of traditional Japanese features such as tatami rooms sunken floor, dining tables and antique wooden cabinetry throughout. They have added modern upgrades touches such as beautiful teak flooring & contemporary separate toilet & shower areas for men & women.

There are people that you come across in life that you just respect them and what they are contributing to their small towns. My only regret was that I wasn’t able to stay longer.
