Nap Manor Hostels

I liked the local guide/resources posted in the common areas, the cleanliness, our private room/bathroom. The staff were kind, accommodating, and helped us on more than one occasion.

The hostel is very well located in Santacruz, just a few metro stations away from the airport and the central parts of Mumbai. I actually liked that it was a bit outside the city centre. Breakfast was included, and the Wi-Fi was reliable throughout my stay. I stayed in a 4-bed dorm. The bed was a bit small, but it was comfortable overall. Common areas were nice.

I booked this place mainly because of its rating, as there aren't that many hostels in Mumbai with such a high score, but there are definitely several things worth considering before booking there. This is not your typical travellers' hostel. During my stay, it seemed to be mostly frequented by Indian workers coming to Mumbai for a few days rather than international travellers. Not necessarily a bad thing, but worth knowing if you're looking for a more social hostel atmosphere. Some policies felt unusual. When I asked to rent a towel, I was told I could only buy one. I was also initially told I couldn't leave my luggage there for a few hours before my late-night train, although another staff member (fortunately) allowed it the following day. There seems to be some inconsistency depending on who you ask. I'm 50/50 on the staff. Some were really nice and helpful, while others were not particularly friendly or solution-oriented. The dorm was very small and not easy to move around in. I was given a top bunk and asked to be informed if a bottom bunk became available. A/C is directly above the top bunks, blowing straight onto them, so I didn't want that for my whole stay. I stayed four nights and saw bottom bunks being reassigned to new guests, but was never offered the possibility. You are asked to dry wet clothes and towels on racks in the back corridor rather than in the dorm. I followed this rule, but on my second-to-last day my towel had been moved into a pile with the other towels. When I asked reception for another one, I was told I had to buy it. This was frustrating, especially since I had followed their instructions. Overall, the location, breakfast and Wi-Fi are good, but the inconsistent service and some of the policies are worth keeping in mind before booking.

The staff was really helpful and polite! There was a sense of community in general which we really enjoyed. Also, it was very cheap.

It could have been cleaner, and with a wider selection of options for breakfast (it was complementary though). The location was not the best but was near the metro and Bandra area.
