We enjoyed our stay, the game room in the basement was a nice bonus. One suggestion - bring flashlights and or candles as we lost power the first night and we were completely in the dark as there was not any in the cabin!

Cute, clean, roomy.

A homey, small cabin with a lovely porch and a roomy basement that had ping pong and pool tables. We didn't use the fire pit because we saw a bear in the trash on multiple occasions and were timid about being out there! Could have used firmer mattresses, softer pillows, and a full length mirror - otherwise, a nice time!

Grandkids loved the game room. Close to a lot of fun activities. Will definitely reurn.

This is a lovely home. It was perfect for four family members.

We returned to Lake Lure 23 years after honeymooning in the area. It’s more beautiful than we remembered! Lots to do: hiking, boating, beach and more! The Wandering Inn was the perfect place to enjoy the area with its own fabulous spaces: game room, fire pit and rocking chair time on the porch. Loved every aspect of our trip!

We had a great time at the Wander Inn. The property was very clean and a great spot for our family of 6. The basement game room was very fun for our kids. The location was prefect!

We loved our stay at Wander Inn. My son loved the basement playroom and we all loved relaxing in the hot tub at night!

Cabin was perfect for what we needed. Clean other than dog hair, but it is a pet friendly house. Game room was a great bonus for the kids. Had a nice stay.

Everything was good except there was dog hair all over in the beds and found a couple bugs in the main bedroom bed and there was hair on the stove and counters. The toilets was kinda nasty like parts of them hadn’t been cleaned. There was also a lot of hair in the shower in the master bedroom. Other than that we enjoyed the pool table and ping pong n the hot tub and the location was great, close to a lot of things

I wasn't familiar with Lake Lure, I just did a search for a dog-friendly cabin around Ashville for 2 adults and 2 teens. How lucky I was to stumble on the Lake Lure area! The cabin was fantastic, one teen wasn't sure about sleeping in an open loft, but was soon won over by the idea of climbing a ladder to get to his room. The house was clean and well stocked and supplied with the necessities. The gameroom/lower level kept the boys entertained for hours and the firepit area was a nice way to end the day and enjoy the first chilly evenings. The Lake Lure area has so much to offer, even though the lake wasn't available as it had been lowered in preparation for any remains of the hurricane. There are more restaurants than we could have eaten in, golf, mini-golf, shopping, apple picking, beautiful drives, a trip into Asheville....enough to keep this family of 4 busy for the better part of the week. We will be returning to Lake Lure and The Wander Inn!

Very nice cabin. Kitchen well supplied, nice deck, enjoyed fire pit and hot tub, very clean. Great to be able to bring my dog. Only thought...bed in 2nd BR is very uncomfortable.

The driveway sloped down to the front entrance and was incredibly narrow, and the passengers in our vehicles could not exit on their sides without contacting a wall of poison-ivy laden vegetation opposite the front door. We rented this cabin because it was pet friendly, and would need to have outdoor access. The front door is the ONLY access to the house that is at level ground, and therefore the poison ivy covered area could not be avoided, especially with a dog. The cabin is built on two levels, and the entire lower floor pictured in the photos is only accessible by a flight of steep, open-stepped EXTERIOR stairs which were not able to be navigated by members of our party. This information WAS NOT included in the cabin’s description on May 30, 2022 (screen shots were taken). Since we were unable to safely navigate the front area, the only option was to walk down the flight of stairs at the rear of the cabin while carrying our dog, which was not physically feasible for us. We called management immediately to inform them that due to mobility issues and an allergy to poison ivy we would not be able to stay at this cabin. We advised them that the description did NOT mention the access to the lower level was via exterior stairs, which was acknowledged by the representative. They also informed us that they had no alternate accommodations for us, and advised that they were uncertain if they would issue a refund “due to it being the same day.” I said that we had driven over 3 hours and that we had paid in good faith for a property that was misrepresented and inaccessible to us. I was told at that point (it was after 4:30 pm on Memorial Day) that the information would be given to their Accounting Department. In the meantime, our family was forced to drive another hour and incur an additional $1300 in rental fees to find alternate accommodations. Since May 30th, I have followed up with a text message, a phone call, and an email to Mr. Lake Lure and have received no response, and we were charged for 3 nights and the pet deposit. HOWEVER, the property description has since been changed online, and now has an added clause regarding the accessibility limitations of the cabin, which further substantiates our claim of misrepresentation. We were hopeful that the company would resolve this fairly with us, but unfortunately that has not been the case. We will be following up with the NC Real Estate Commission as per the NC Vacation Rental Act.

Wander Inn was a cozy house. Sometimes the pictures posted make the house look larger than it actually is. Only thing I can say negative about this house is that we had to go buy tips for the pool sticks, and the games were missing pieces. Also the shampoos and lotions had been used. I think it also says a hair dryer is provided but I didn't see one in the master bathroom. They could also have a few mixing bowls of different sizes. Just a few inexpensive improvements and I would give it a 5.

Taking the time to write this review so future travelers are made aware of the situation with this cabin. I travel alot and without a doubt this was my worst experience. Let me start off by saying that the property management office is not available the way they make themselves out to be. Unfortunately we hit bad traffic coming in and arrived at 6pm when it was dark. We couldn’t find the cabin and couldn’t reach the property manager. The following evening around 8pm we realize there was no running water at all in the cabin. I immediately call the property manager with no answer. Called several times as and left a voicemail. All of the sudden the water started to slowly come back close to midnight. I expected to hear back from them first thing in the morning but that didn’t happen. I called at 9:30am and spoke with Brittany. She informed me that she didn’t hear my VM yet because they had over 100 calls since they decided to close yesterday. They had no check ins so they closed. So in others words I would not have been able to reach anyone that day at all. She did send someone out that morning to check the water.Their reasoning for no water was because it’s an old house and the pipes probably froze. The maintenance guy said I should be dripping the sink water all day so it won’t freeze, although it was 40 degrees that evening and it came back on several hours later. He also went down to the basement to check on the pipes and let me know he had the code for the door. After this experience I let Brittany know that I would be checking out the following day. Even dripping water that evening, the water turned off again. At this point we were soaggravated and of course no one answers the phone again. The following morning my kids packed up and went back to Florida. This was supposed to be a week vacation as a family and it was ruined in 2 days. I immediately called VRBO who tried calling the property manager but no one picked up the phone. I finally got the property manager, Greg, on the phone at 10:30am as we were leaving. When I started to tell him the issue he cut me off and said he knew and what did I want. I told him I was checking out 4 days early and wanted a refund. He said fine and pretty much rushed me off the phone. 2 days later I received the invoice for the refund but not the whole amount. Called and spoke to Greg again who at this point gives me more attitude. Not once did he apologize for the situation. Worst Customer Service!

Great place for the family. Enough things to do to stay busy on even a rainy day. Loved the hot tub. Nice big table for playing games with the family.

We would return to this property, it was a great.Pros: -description was accurate-location was perfect(restaurants close by and chimney rock activities/downtown short drive away. -great porch with rocking chairs-kitchen was pretty equipped to cook in-grocery store less than 5 mins awayCons:-I understand it’s a pet friendly place but the bedding/comforter/pillows were covered in pet hair.-bedding could be updated(my opinion)-curtains in the bedroom that fit the rod/offer more blackout/privacy.(sheer fabric in the middle of each rod bc curtains not long enough)(my opinion)-a few porch spindles need to be repairedOverall, the cons are very minor, outside of the pet hair. This place worked for my husband and I with our 1 year old and 2 friends with their dog. The location was just perfect for us—wish we could have stayed longer. Also-we did arrive before it got dark. Just like previous reviews, just call to get specific directions when you get close as gps didn’t help and it was tricky to find—luckily I saw the yellow door from pictures, which helped. I’ve also never had a host call the day of arrival and ask if I had any questions or need anything—going above and beyond, IMO.

We would return to this property, it was a great.
