The Garden

Our stay at Green Hotel was very cosy and welcoming. It has a lovely local feel, almost like staying in your own home, rather than a luxurious hotel. If you’re looking for an extravagant hotel experience, this might not be the right choice for you. However, as this was my third time in Zanzibar and I was staying for a longer period, choosing this hotel was absolutely the right decision. The staff were always friendly and welcoming, and we loved that breakfast could be chosen daily and was freshly prepared in individual portions upon order, reducing the food waste. The rooms were clean, and the location was great — close to the main shops and streets while still being within easy reach of the beach. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the peaceful, homely atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Green Hotel to anyone looking for a cosy, authentic local experience with a welcoming, home-away-from-home feeling.

Breakfast and drink selection could be a bit wider.

The Garden is an absolute gem in the heart of Paje, we wish we could've stayed here longer! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, we felt very looked after! The breakfast/lunch options were absolutely delicious, fresh and healthy. The rooms were peaceful and so beautifully designed, I didn't want to leave! We also really loved using the pool and the yoga room. It was very easy to organise activities and transport through the hotel. Maluum Cave was in walking/tuk tuk distance which was one of the highlights of our stay. Paje beach is beautiful but a bit overwhelming, so we were delighted to have such a beautiful and calm hotel to return to!

The wifi didn't work for quite a lot of our stay. There were also frequent power outages but this is just to be expected in Zanzibar and out of the hotel's control! On one night my mini fridge kept jumping around every time the power kept flickering back on (which was happening every few minutes). This was very loud and completely stopped me from sleeping, so I had to bunk in my family's second room for the night. The next day the team identified the problem and disconnected the fridge.

The hotel room is gorgeous. The pool area and dining area are also lovely. They offer a great selection at breakfast, all freshly prepared to order. The staff are so friendly and helpful, helping me to find places to eat, the beach and getting taxis and tuk tuks.

My bathroom did smell, but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't use it and I just kept the bathroom door closed. It's not a deal breaker, the bathroom was still lovely.

Beautilful room and pool, also good location, lots of nature.

We had a feeling like we are staying at someone’s place, the staff wasn’t attentive and didn’t really make us feel welcomed, except the night guard who was really nice.
