Sol Mate holds a special place for our family- this is our second year returning, and the house itself never disappoints. The location is fantastic, the short walk to the beach is a huge plus, and we love the pool and layout. It's a genuinely beautiful property. That said, we did notice a difference from our 2025 stay, likely due to a change in ownership. The house was noticeably less stocked than before- small things like plastic cups for the pool, scissors, basic storage containers, and even kitchen staples like salt and pepper were missing. When you're investing in a destination vacation, those little conveniences go a long way. We also found several window blinds broken and unable to open, which affected both the light and the overall feel of the rooms. And upon check-in, we discovered several piles of dog waste around the pool area- a frustrating find, especially with young children nearby. A quick walkthrough before guest arrival would make a real difference. We have nothing but good things to say about Once Upon a Beach and would absolutely book with them again- we may just explore other properties next time to find one that better fits our needs. Sol Mate is a beautiful house, and we hope these small things get addressed so future guests can enjoy it fully.
