The house is cute and good location for rock hounding. However, the main bed mattress had me sleeping in the middle or I was not flat. It was not comfortable. We prepared all our own meals. The kitchen cabinet doors need a thorough cleaning as they are sticky to touch and the counter had stuck red foods. There were no k-cups for large machine which took up space on only small counter. A sign asked you not to open only kitchen window (only source of ventilation) and gas stove fan does not vent outside. Love the retro bathroom but the bathtub glass door frame and grout need a deep clean of mold/mildew and crud. Also the bathroom rugs appeared to need washing. A big bonus of the house in listing was use of washer and dryer. However, I checked my wash load and found floating debris. I spun water out and removed clothes, then started just a hot water wash. This debris kept coming out - I had to repeat multiple times before I then could put my clothes back in. While washing I slowly removed the long curved dryer lint filter. A huge roll came out as if it had been months of use without removing. My son thought the lint was a towel it was so large. I do recognize that other renters can use and perhaps don’t wash and dry appropriately! The kitchen, bath and washer/dryer situation reminded me of going to my elderly parents where they don’t see when things are dirty or need maintenance. (The dehumidifier in basement has a back filter coated in dust).

The house was perfect as a location for an evening at the opera. Central location and easy access are a plus. Comfortable for a family of four

We stayed at this property to attend a class reunion. We know the area well and staying at this house met our needs completely! The location was very convenient, and the central air conditioning was a lifesaver since the weather was very hot and humid. It was most helpful to be able to do some laundry at the house. We did not do any real cooking since we wanted to revisit our favorite area restaurants. Jean was a joy to work with, and we would highly recommend this property. This house is a gem for lodging in the Herkimer area.

The property was in a nice quiet place! There was food close by and plenty of places to choose from.
