The Ram Inn

Good quiet location (jets aside!), ideal for exploring the Breks and East Anglia. Have stayed before but not in this room, seems to have had a redecoration and seemed very fresh if a little spartan. Good size for 1/2, great shower, respectable view out of the single pane windows. Warm. Very comfy bed with contemporary covers, felt homely. The food at the pub was very nice as ever, and decent value, was very busy and noisy though at time of visit. Plenty of off street parking.

As above, the room was nice but empty, like a bedroom in your first house after you've just moved in - no bedside units so wallet, keys, change etc had to be put on floor, no pictures or mirrors. Both bedside lamps had no bulbs so had to get up to turn main lights on/off. Kettle was on window sill with nothing to put it on when plugged in. No shelf in bathroom to put wash bag or other stuff. Can be a struggle with no lift and lots of doors and corridors. The fire escape signage was lacking if there at all, no escape route arrows and there's a lot of doors!! Looked like some small pieces of food on carpet.

The Ram Inn looks a bit ramshackle on the booking.com photo and I was not expecting much especially at the price. But they sent me across the road to the rooms at Brandon House. My room was very elegant and clean with a lovely well equipped bathroom...as good as a 5 star hotel.

No soap in the bathroom. I asked for soap at the bar and the girl working at the bar told me the hotel had stopped providing soap in bathrooms. So take your soap and have a lovely stay.

No staff clean and value for money

So... We didn't actually stay at the Ram Inn. We stayed at the huge Brandon House over the road. Which we were secretly glad about as the Ram looked a bit run down. The staff / bar lady was lovely. Really pleasant and went through everything with us. She told us about food places and where to get breakfast. The beds looked brand new and the sheets were clean and it was very comfy. Beautiful slash windows that opened up showing off the grounds outside. We were on the top floor on the back of the hotel and it was pretty quiet throughout the night. The room was a good size, an L shape with a double bed and 3 single beds. The bathroom was a good size but the shower was a bit small, although it was a nice shower that did the job! I would recommend this hotel. It had charm and character and when it's finished, with a lovely garden area, it'll be lovely!

The building looked a bit run down and the outside area was bog standard with no real garden or area to relax in. It was obvious that the building was in the middle of a refurb with some areas still having work done but this didn't affect our stay. The room hadn't been hoovered so there was hair and dust and rubbish around the room. There was hair in the shower and the bathroom blind had tooth paste water sprayed up it plus the windows were covered in cobwebs and the dead flies etc on the windowsill. We were surprised there was no hand soap in the bathroom, but not a big issues. Two TVs in the room, one with no remote so it didn't work and there was a battery missing from the only remote control so we couldn't watch either TV!
