The house was very clean and well stocked. We had brought all of the supplies on the list but there were several already on site. Kitchen was very well stocked. We enjoyed the pool table and had no issues with wifi connection. The dock was nice and we launched our kayaks every day. We even caught one small fish the one day we threw our lines out. It is a steep hill to the dock. Nice quiet no wake cove was perfect for kayaking. I would recommend this house to anyone.

We enjoyed the quiet cove. It was great for swimming and docking the boat we rented. The hill was steep, as advertised. We would rent the house again.

House was clean, comfortable, and provided adventures for grandparents and kids. 2 floors, both with outside walkouts. Canoes, pool table, darts. Some games and toys. Plenty of beds and bathrooms. Helpful, friendly neighbors, and attentive owners. Electricity went out a couple times, and owners kept us informed. Bummer of a hill walking down to make, but that’s par for SML. No nearby conveniences. White House convenience store is the closest and and is hopping. The oldsters went to the dam visitors center , and it was impressive. Did kayaking in the no wake creek. If you like to guess what animals visited the yard the night before through tracks and droppings, this place is for you! Next to nature refuge land.

Very nice house and property, it was everything the LL promised, the only downside was that it was off season and some of the restaurants were not opened but the house and view were perfect.

Brought in the new year lakefront by the fire pit. Had fun playing pool and foosball and some darts and games. Had nice enough weather to utilize the canoe and dock. Cozy, private, clean, and welcoming. Being able to bring our small dogs was a huge plus. Comfortable beds and plenty of space to spread out. 3 restrooms was super convenient also. No issues. Save space to take trash to the dump upon departure though- not something I’ve had to plan around with other rentals. Great responsive owners. Would return without question.

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything we needed was there with a few exceptions. The kitchen was very well stocked with cook ware and dining needs .The only problem we encountered was getting our phones to connect to the internet although we were able to get a lap tap connected. The furniture could probably use an update but because pets are allowed we understood. We just used the throws from the closet to cover them. The trek down to the dock was a real workout but was worth it...we got a lot of exercise! We hope to go back again.!

We really enjoyed our stay! The cottage was just as advertised. So glad we found this place! My husband and I water skied (in wetsuits!) and explored the lake by boat. The dock was great for tying up our boat. The cove is no wake so we had no issues with our boat all week. Nice quiet cove area to paddle around and play at dock too. Donna (owner) was easy to work with and very helpful with booking & when we had questions about where to put in boat nearby etc. Highly recommend!

Donna was a terrific hostess and was very flexible, particularly when I had a schedule change. The location in a wildlife refuge was terrific--very peaceful. I visited in the off season, so the lake was not very busy. I think in the summer, the main part of the lake would be very loud with boat motor and jet ski noise. I think this property, on a no wake cove, would be quiet. The house was spotlessly clean and is well equipped, though it is beginning to show its age (everything was in good repair). I would stay again. Now, if the fish would only bite....

This place is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Quiet and peaceful with plenty to do. It's pet friendly which is a plus for me. There's lots of games, movies, and outdoor activities. You won't run out of things to do. The dock for fishing is down a hill. I think I lost 5lbs going up and down it. Lol. The owner is very nice, friendly, and helpful. She's really quick to respond. My family had an awesome time. Really loved it out there.

This was the first time at Smith Mountain Lake. We had a great stay, the house was the perfect size for our family, including our dog! The house was very clean, will stocked, even doggie bags! The dock was great, when we weren't on the boat we were on the dock! We brought our boat and used the boat lift on the the rainy days that we had, it was nice not to worry about putting my cover on the boat for the week. We used the firepit a couple of nights. It was nice being on the no-wake cove because it made it very quite and relaxing. The location was close to the Trash dump, Marina and a small food store. If you are looking for a nice place to stay, this is it!

House was perfect for our multi-generational family getaway. Lots of space for adults (including grandparents) to relax, and tweens and teens to hangout. The location was exceptional-quiet and peaceful with low boat traffic, which is exactly what we wanted for safe swimming and floating for the kids and dog! The kitchen was well equipped with most everything we needed, and the house was very clean. Could use some updates-downstairs carpets were quite stained, but overall a very comfortable stay! Donna was personable, responsive, and a real pleasure to work with, thank you!!

Loved the house on Witcher Roost! It's in a very quite and peaceful location. The kitchen has everything you would possibly need. I would definitely like to spend a weeks long vacation here!

Excellent location on the lake!
We stayed @ Witcher Roost for 3 nights with our 16 and 18 year old boys, dog and cat. The location was perfect, away from the hustle and bustle of the main part of the lake. We enjoyed relaxing at the dock, fishing, canoeing and the boys really liked the separate basement space with all the games. Even though it was away from the majorly populated areas, it was still plenty close for a drive into town to hit the arcade and get ice cream. I highly recommend this property, and we'll definitely be back!

Peaceful, relaxing lake getaway
We LOVED this house! We're 2 families, 3 generations and 3 teenagers who all loved this house and everything it offered. We spent most days just floating in the lake. Dock gives great access to get into the water. The private cove invites tons of wildlife!
The house was the perfect size, extremely clean and well-stocked. We love to cook when we stay together and the kitchen and grill were perfect.
5 stars all around!

Very clean. Great location, nice dock. We all loved the Lake. Best vacation with my 2 grandkids. We all enjoyed the water skiing and the fishing. Had a special day with Dakota on the Fat Shad charter boat too, caught 8 large Stripers (one over 20 pounds)

Peaceful Family Retreat
Our family made some precious memories at this property! We brought our own kayaks to use, in addition to the canoes provided. There was plenty of room, many supplies were provided, and the area was on a cove…very quiet and peaceful. Everything was very clean when we arrived.

Perfectly Equipped Home and Great Fishing Too!!
This house was exactly as advertised - at the end of a quiet cove with a private dock. It was spacious, comfortable - with lake views from every bedroom!! We brought own sheets and towels, but were pleased to see small things like tp, paper towels, Kleenex, and dishwashing detergent/pods were provided by host (we left some behind as well). Our dog felt welcome - they even provided doggie bags. Clear instructions for every possibility - even a power outage. The door codes were easy to remember and we had no problems at all with our entry. Very good hosts. Our ONLY caveat was that like most lake homes, there's a fairly steep hill from the house to the dock, so if you're not in shape, you need to take it easy. There is a nice gravel path, but we found the hill easier to navigate. You are 15 minutes or so from the nearest grocery/marina/restaurant, but that wasn't a problem for us. We also had the added bonus that our striper fishermen were able to get lucky on Saturday right there in Witcher Creek and we had fish for dinner! Also, the gas grill worked perfectly. We are looking forward to another stay!

Stayed for a local bass fishing tournament with the family. Had a great stay and enjoyed the place. Kids loved the basement activities (darts, foosball, pool, etc.) and the dog loved the massive back yard. Easy to get to the State Park and local marinas. Thanks!

Wonderful Experience!
My family and I had a wonderful time! The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Quiet, peaceful location with very friendly, helpful neighbors. Excellent place to relax and get away from it all. Homeowner was the best! Can't wait to go back.

Enjoyed the off-season peace and quiet. The house had everything we needed (and a couple things we forgot). Couldn't ask for any better rest and relaxation spot.

Great vac week
We love this house and location. We have stayed there for a few years and hope to come back again and again. The grand baby loved jumping off the dock and the slide and the pups loved it as well.

Nice quiet location
Very quiet cove located along wooded area, nice for walks. This was the cleanest VRBO rental we’ve ever stayed at, and made us feel comfortable right away. Everything we needed was available in the kitchen - very helpful. The neighbors are very friendly and helpful, especially with tips for fishing. We all enjoyed the stay.

Wonderful stay, loved this rental!
We loved this vacation rental, by far the cleanest rental home we've ever rented! We stayed here for the week and loved the beautiful quiet lake, very peaceful. The house has so many great areas to just hang out (inside and out). Kids (ages 12 & 14) had a great time in the lake and using the game room - lots of pool was played through the week. Donna was so responsive to any questions we had leading up to this trip and also once we were there. We'll definitely stay here again when we come back to SML. Our doggie enjoyed the huge back yard and all the wildlife that visited us during the week (deer, geese, rabbits, and lots of beautiful birds). Dog friendly houses can be dicey, but this one had no signs of dogs visiting before us and smelled great! The whole house is so well stocked - lots of blankets (which we always love extras on beds and couches), kitchen has everything you need! There's even dog bowls for use if needed. You can't go wrong with this property!

Awesome trip
We loved the quiet secluded cove . We were able to catch fish and swim at the dock with fun for all ages . Once you master the hill climb it's all good . The game room was a hit for the night fun with all ages. Using the lift for my boat was a big plus for me since most places don't have access to one. We will definitely be interested in staying here again . Donna was a great help with every question I had .
