### A Bit of History

CasaCondo\@Maria is located on the historic **Miglio d’Oro**, a stunning stretch of coastline so beautiful that in **1738**, King **Charles III of Bourbon** built his royal summer palace here in Portici.

The area soon became a royal getaway, lined with elegant villas by Italy’s greatest neoclassical architects. When foundations were dug for these residences, the **ancient treasures of Herculaneum** began to emerge—so well-preserved that excavations soon extended to **Pompeii**.

Today, you’ll be staying just **1.5 km from the ruins of Herculaneum**, and close to many other world-famous sites:
