Villa De L'Ô

the location was perfect, the room was very nice and stylish. the roof top has an amazing view and the staff at breakfast kind and welcoming despite my horrible French. differently from other hotels, there is a TV and the air-con which makes the difference in hot days.

few adjustments to the mirror on the wall, a bit of the plaster was coming off from the walls around the windows and the window in the bedroom was not closing properly. as europeans, we don't like the fluffy/sky-fleece style cover and cushions on the bed. Better to use the moroccan beautiful fabric. more light by the wardrobe and mirro would help. I didn't like to be obliged to a deposit of £1000 dirham in case I was bringing guests for drinks. If I have guest I pay for them therefore there shouldn't be a tax on top of it.

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa De L’O. The location is fantastic, right by the medina and only a few steps from the beach, but once inside the riad it feels peaceful and completely removed from the bustle outside. The building itself is beautiful, full of character and traditional Moroccan details, and the rooftop terrace with its views over Essaouira was one of our favorite places to relax. Breakfast was lovely, but what really made the stay special was the staff - genuinely warm, welcoming and helpful throughout our visit.

Honestly, there was very little to complain about. We had a wonderful stay and any small imperfections were easily outweighed by the atmosphere, location and hospitality.

The staff was amazing, small personal hotel with character and excellent location between beach and medina.

Our room was big and pretty but extremely dark due to windows only facing a dark indoor hallway. Felt like staying in a cave. Also hotel is beautiful but the common facilities like the lounge and rooftop area feel a bit dusty/dull and not looked after properly. Shame with such a beautiful building with lots of potential

Location just inside the Medina was good, not far to carry bags. The reception staff and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful - what I would expect. Bed was very comfortable BUT BUT BUT

Had to pay for advertised airport shuttle! Expected welcome mint tea (happened elsewhere) but no. We had chosen a room which opened onto the central corridor which was awful, no natural light or view, half the room at the top of very dangerous stairs / so unusable!! We made it known we weren’t happy with in the room / even offered to pay for upgrade but nothing happened - we were the ONLY GUESTS THERE!! Breakfast was ok but on a very shabby rooftop terrace - great views of beach but furniture was old and uninviting. One broken sun bed / no cushions so not able to spend any time up there. Public spaces downstairs - dark and dingy, didn’t use them at all!! Very very disappointed - will definitely return to Essaouira but will not return to this hotel. They had the option to turn our stay around - no other guests - we could have been given a better room but no. Photographs are very misleading. Beware.
