The chalet was fully kitted out for self catering which was really nice to see. We travel alot and no other accommodation has been so thorough in providing everything needed to cook a decent meal. All utensils we'd ever need was there. Decent pots and pans, large fridge freezer, even kitchen scissors. Aircon helped alot and the chalet was well set out.
The staff communication is seriously lacking. From emailing via booking.com, to actual emails. It was my surprise birthday weekend away from my husband and he's asked for a menu, and what activities there are to do in the area and if anything is guided. He heard nothing back. Then non the way there we recevied a whatsapp asking what time out ETA was and that we had to go Ceres way around as the Clanwilliam road was closed. We replied with our ETA. Never received a repsonse. The receptionist that checked us in could not tell us why we hadn't been answered. Then when it rained the kitchen floor was very wet and we called the cell phone number that reached out about or ETA prior. We had to call twice before someone eventually picked up. The maintenance guy arrived within about 15 minutes which was great. Floor was dry and problem was told solved. Then in the late afternoon when it rained again- same problem... This time no one answered the phone at all. When running a lodge like that communication is key. Short of climbing in the car and driving to reception to actually get info / answers - you're pretty much on your own it seems.

I loved the location, it’s quiet and peaceful. Great for a get away from city life
Love that there’s no noise, one might hear the sound of sheep or cattle or even a dog guiding the sheep

Beautiful scenery with in reach of the Ceder Mountains. The restaurant served exellent food. We picked up trouble with a burst tire on the road and Mount Ceder staff were very helpful.
When I booked on your website it did not make it very clear that we booked a chalet that has a fully equiped kitchen.

This was our second stay at Mount Cedar and the location is absolutely beautiful. The setting in the Cederberg is stunning and the accommodation has a very special atmosphere. The peaceful surroundings and the nature are what made us come back after our first visit.
Unfortunately, this time not everything was as good as we remembered. Some of the towels and pillowcases had visible stains, possibly from sunscreen, which made them look unclean. While this alone would not have been a major issue, it did take away a bit from the overall experience. What disappointed us more was the food. The dinners were quite expensive (around 450 Rand per person), which set a high expectation. Unfortunately the quality did not match the price. For example, the hake fillet looked and tasted as if it had been prepared earlier and simply reheated. It lacked freshness and texture and was quite disappointing for the price level.
