We have stayed in many VRBO properties but this was by far the cleanest most well appointed house we have stayed in! Comfortable beds, great towels, plenty of seating areas and a wonderful Christmas tree! Kitchen is well stocked and turn key … spices, coffee, sugar etc. no need to pack any. House is only 10 minutes from downtown Highlands for shopping, groceries, and plenty of nice places to eat. We loved how the house was nestled in the forest and pretty views from every window including the creek on the back of the property. My favorite room was the sunroom with the windows and comfortable couches. Thank you John and Melissa!

We loved our stay - the house was in a great location just a few minutes drive from town and was in excellent condition! We cooked for Thanksgiving and had everything we needed in the kitchen and we had fun with the puzzles and games too. Great host communication as well. We can't wait to go back!

Location is ideal to DT Highlands and nearby hiking! The property is surrounded by beautiful hardwoods! The home itself is very clean and has everything needed for a short stay. Appreciate the kitchen set up! King bed is comfortable! Real wood-burning fireplace! Will return for another stay!

Property was spotless and met all of our needs. We enjoyed the
little creek in the back and my grandchildren claimed the space under the stairs with the beverage fridge as their space.

The cottage was perfect- clean, well decorated, cozy, and private but still in close proximity to downtown. Melissa and John were easy to communicate with and very helpful. My husband and I enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

This cottage was the perfect location for our first trip to the area. It is convenient to Highlands, Cashiers, and all of the surrounding areas. Much care has been put into this place, from the updates to the amenities. There was nothing lacking in this quaint and comfortable cottage!

My family and I had the pleasure of staying in this cabin over the Labor Day holiday. The rental was clean, well previsioned, everything was exactly as advertised, and the location was excellent with regard to proximity from downtown Highlands. I highly recommend this renal to anyone interested in visiting Highlands.

This house was cozy and relaxing. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and then some. The location was great, close to town. I was disappointed that I couldn’t walk into town since it was only 1.5 miles away. It would require walking on a main highway with no shoulder which was too dangerous. Check out required us to take our garbage to the dump. It was located half way between Highlands and Cashiers. It was out of our way and added 20-30 minutes to our drive home. We have rented several homes through VRBO and have never been asked to do this.

We enjoyed our stay. Home is well equipped and nicely furnished and is clean and comfortable. Surrounded by trees and next to a brook. Less than 10-minute drive to town and numerous shops and restaurants. Centrally located for access to hiking trails. Owner was very responsive and helpful.

Quiet secluded property
Very quiet, privacy, small water stream at the back of house..... lots of trees, cool in summer.
This is a very wooded lot/house if you like shade and to satay cool in summer (we were there is June) so it was nice that time of year. The kitchen was very nice and equipped with everything you need and nice new appliances. The back of the house has a nice closed in porch overlooking the woods and the stream, very relaxing.

Great house
I rented the house for the Highlands Motoring Festival. It was great. The was a short drive out of town passing through the golf club. The flowers were blooming and everything was beautiful.

We enjoyed our stay here Thanksgiving week. Quaint little cottage tucked away, plenty of privacy. Cottage was stocked with everything we needed. Owners were very responsive when we had one small issue with the tv. Overall great stay, will be back!

Better than Ever
We have stayed here at least 4 times over the last few years. The location and setting are perfect-close to downtown Highlands and hiking trails, but quiet on a private circle of less than a dozen homes. The new owners, Melissa and John, have updated the home, improved the Wi-Fi and made our stay even more comfortable and fun! Thank you! We will be back!

Our search in Highlands is over.
Today is the last of our week-long stay in Stoney Creek cottage, but it will not be our last visit. This charming comfy home sits in a stand of golden yellow American beech trees arising from a hillside of rhododendron. Its long, windowed “sun room” across the back of the house has been our tree house where we’ve wiled away many delicious hours in both sun and rain overlooking this peaceful, stunning view.
Inside is everything you could ask for: quality furnishings, wonderful beds you won't want to get out of, large fluffy bath linens, a kitchen any chef would envy, a fireplace to warm and enchant, and a pair of leather recliners that caress you. It's sparkling clean and the owners are polite, professional and very responsive.
All this and only two minutes from downtown Highlands. Our search is over.

Beautiful Highlands cottage
We chose this cottage to celebrate our 10 yr anniversary, and it was a wonderful trip. The property is beautiful, and while it's just a mile or so from town, it feels secluded and is nestled in the woods. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch for coffee each morning, listening to the creek below and watching the leaves fall. Perfect location to access hiking and downtown shopping. We will be back!

Although the weather was rainy, we did not it stop us from enjoying Highlands and the surrounding communities. The property was amazing and beautiful. Peaceful retreat with nice ammenities
Wanting our young adult children to experience Highlands with us, we booked the Stoney Creek retreat for Labor Day weekend. Nestled in a wooded, private circle of homes, this cottage was a great fit for our family. Creature comforts of good wifi and smart TVs met the needs of the young people, while the parents appreciated the comfortable mattresses, modern kitchen ammenities, and hot showers with good water pressure. A very nice trip indeed...our hearts and bellies are full.
