Too many chipmunks jumping on and around you whilst trying to relax in the sun.

What an incredible stay! The property exceeded our expectations as a final rest stop for us before flying home. The room was very comfortable, the food was unbelievable. The buffet, wow! We would highly recommend staying, particularly as a family. Our one year old spent his days in and out of the pool and was so happy, the staff also went above and beyond to make sure he was happy.

Staff was really friendly with us and our little one, F&B team was all the time making sure we were happy and making our stay unique. The property has an amazing location. There is security team in each floor and each corner, this makes the place secure. We initially booked for 2 nights, but since we did really enjoy we extended the stay one more night.

The food was amazing. Enjoyed our Ocean view from the fourth floor of our room. The staff members were very friendly and helpful and nice enough to help my wife and me with our toddler.

Friendlier staff and the food spread at restaurants

Old property and low maintenance. My room was unsafe as part of the roof fallen off while we were at the balcony, thereafter maintenance staff spend at least one hour clearing off the debris and they used the room door the take them out making real discomfort and inconvenience to us. Hotel didn’t have water in the bathrooms on one particular day during out stay. This water cut lasted several hours. This was really a bad experience. We were given room that was always wet inside due to an issue in the humidifier, finally they had to change the 2 rooms.

We didn’t stay at this hotel as the rooms are very dirty and very old not safe for children at all we refused to say we found a different hotel.

There is nothing to like about this hotel

The staff are friendly and very customer-focused, we were impressed on how the manager (Sudath) resolved the problem we had with the room. Buffet had a lot of selection and the New Year’s Buffet was simply stunning. Noteworthy as well is that the guards were not just doing their job, but going the extra mile. For example, when me and my friend went to the beach at night on New Years’s Eve, one of the guards signalled to us with the light letting us know that he’s keeping an eye on us, which made us feel very safe.

Unfortunately, not all rooms have the same quality standard due to the size of the hotel and the first room we got (number 226 on the second floor) had a terrible humidity issue (to the point where one of the travel party actually got sick because of it). In addition, the ventilator in the bathroom was so loud that it was impossible to sleep even with earplugs. The dehumidifier (that shouldn’t be turned off) was also really loud. The sink in the bathroom was leaking and when you’d turn on the tap, a puddle would start forming on the ground. On a separate note, not only there were no USBs by all beds, but also no sockets. The phone also didn’t work. We were assured that the hotel is gradually renovating the rooms, but the reality today is that there are still rooms like that. Worth mentioning as well that there seems to be some break in communication between the office / front desk staff and people on the ground servicing the rooms. Although we booked a tripple room and additionally communicated about it in writing, when we arrived, the toiletries, towels and sheets were there only for two people and we had to ask several times for it to get done. These are minor details, but they do matter

The staff were great. The view is fantastic. You can swim with the turtles directly infront of the hotel. The breakfast was lovely. The crab shack restaurant was so delicious. The staff helped us to pack the breakfast for a day trip which was lovely. The cinnamon tea is amazing.

Cocktails are not good. They need more work. They need poolside service, they would make a lot of money. Too many staff during breakfast time that can be allocated to afternoon service by the pool. The rooms need more cleaning. The phone in the room doesn’t work. The very loud music by the DJ was horrible and couldn’t sleep. There was no one at the party and we asked for them to turn it down but they refused unfortunately.

Friendly staff and ready to help. Great meals with many options from Sri Lankan cuisine to western.

Hotel was excellent but when we tried to reserve the place bookings forced us to reserve two rooms instead of one triple room. As we needed only one room, we payed for two rooms and used only one room. We could not change the reservation, as we had trouble getting hold of customer service. We should have done the reservation directly through the hotel, then we would have gotten what we wanted for a better price.

The area for meals was magnificent combined with good and variety of food which combine locals and western taste buds. The room was clean and comfortable while the beach was in magnificent view from our balcony. Overall I love the place and it exceed my expectation and Hikkaduwa is a place of underrated which yet to discover by tourist around the world.
