We stayed for 10 days, and we loved every minute of it. We travelled from US with our two toddlers, and we could not have had a better vacation. Renee, the owner, was very kind and helpful, she even contacted the local administrator to have Disney Plus and Netflix available on the TV for our kids. She introduced us to Leonardo, the local contact and he was always available for any particularity. The house is a 10-minute dirt road drive from Samara main town. It’s a beautiful safe property surrounded by lots of tropical trees, plants, and wildlife (howler monkeys, parakeets, horses) … don’t leave the trash out (Ha!). The pool is a great amenity for a day after the beach or simply to relax. The main gate opens to a three-four car parking space. We arrived with two and had no issues. I would recommend an SUV. 4x2 will do if you stay in main roads. If you feel adventurous, for safety I would say get a 4x4. We had two SUV 4x4 but only used them in 4x2 mode. Inside, the house has all the necessary things to make a great stay. Nice couches with a big TV and Internet connectivity, big rooms each with AC, plenty beds, and all necessary appliances to cook. There is a small convenience store about 5-minutes away from the house with a bakery next door where you can get fresh baked goods as well as all the necessary items. Samara Town is a casual community with a relaxed vibe. It has restaurants of different cuisine and budget, ATM, Supermarkets, Urgent Care, and lots of friendly people. It’s home to Samara beach. A black sand calm warm water that allows for kayaking, swimming or just laying down for some sun. Carrillo Beach is a 10-minute drive with a beautiful setting too. This one is a gray to white sand beach with stronger waves but still available for swimming. Both town and beaches are safe, and most people are there to just have a good time with their families and friends. As with every trip, just exercise caution in what you do. A few pointers: Costa Rica does have a reputation for power outages when there are t-storms, internet can fail every now and then and water cuts are also a thing occasionally. All these problems only last for a few minutes to a few hours, nothing critical but you should plan in case power goes out at night so you can have some lanterns (makes for a great Phase10 night!). It can also storm during green season but that normally means a day or two and mostly late afternoon through the night. You will not regret; we have
