Ditch the beachfront condo and stay Upcountry! The silence, the view, the flora and fauna, the rain, the winds through the eucalyptus trees, the stars - where do I stop? The winding and narrow road just adds to the feeling that you are "away from it all", but don't worry, it's actually not that far from town! I know most people come to the islands to experience the beach, but this place is paradise. Come relax.

The pictures do not do this place justice. The views are breathtaking! I am so glad we decided not to stay on the beach for this part of our trip and really wish we could have stayed longer. The host was just as amazing. If we ever come back to Maui, we are definitely staying here again.

If you are considering a stay in upcountry Maui, this is the home! Photos and commentary cannot accurately describe the beauty of this home and area. The terraced property and the home full of windows allows visitors to truly experience the peace of upcountry. We enjoyed coffee each morning on the deck watching the sunrise and listening to the birds. Dawn and David are amazing, kind hosts who work hard to provide a fabulous stay. Dawn helped us in so many ways with wonderful recommendations, tips, and even a ride to town for one of us when the rest were gone one day. The home is well equipped and Dawn's attention to detail makes for a special stay. We were greeted with eggs from her silkie chickens, and there were beautiful plants and flowers throughout the home. We loved enjoying the pool and hot tub, especially at sunset. The stars at night are so bright! I loved the plants, trees and flowers on the property.We were able to go to all the different areas for beaches, as well as RTH, and Haleakala. Truly the best of both worlds. We loved every minute at this lovely home and were so sad to leave. Dawn, thank you for having us, we hope to return! A hui hou, Charlotte

I can't begin to explain how beautiful this property is! The view overlooking the valley and ocean is amazing! The pool, hot tub and outdoor shower is resort quality. David was a great host, very helpful and kind. I'd stay here again 100%.

We enjoyed our stay here and loved exploring this part of the island. Stunning sunsets, gardens and pool. Nearby historic towns and hiking. Host was very communicative and responsive. Mahalo!

The host was so kind providing excellent service and making sure we had a fantastic experience. The highlight of the rental was the stunning views, offering panoramic vistas of the lush Maui landscape. The home itself was beautifully decorated, spacious, and had all the necessary amenities. The well-maintained grounds added to the charm, providing a peaceful retreat. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved this property. The pictures do not do the view justice - one of our favorite things was watching the sunrise/sunset on the deck while we enjoyed our meals, and swimming in the pool and hot tub all together. Such an amazing place and amazing hosts! Thank you for having us!!!

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The views are incredible! Staying up country was a different island experience . More of a local vibe . It is a steep climb of a winding road up to the house but it’s worth it. We didnt take advantage of the pool as much as we would have liked. We did a lot of sight seeing and would arrive back tired and ready for bed early. The birds sing early in the morning here. So be prepared to be up with the roosters. The house has everything you need. Comfy beds and a lovely kitchen and open living area. The morning views were just incredible. Wish we had had more time to enjoy it.

Even better in person than in listing. A calm, kind resort vibe has been cultivated with thoughtful touches. What you need and even some things you didn't know you needed at your finger tips. Upcountry Maui is probably not on everyone's itinerary and that is fantastic for those of us who find it absolutely magical and worth the drive. The view, the quiet nights, the stars, the birdsong in the morning and the cooler temperatures were just the ticket after the fun first half of our trip in Kihei. Magical and practical at the same time! Mahalo

This is the most beautiful house that we have ever stayed in. The house design is fabulous with views of the valley and ocean from every window. The interior is immaculate with great details. Watching the sunset from the hot tub after a long hike in Haleakalā National Park was a perfect way to end the day! Granted a rainbow is not guaranteed but we had a full rainbow across the island to greet us each morning. I wish I could add a few pictures to show how fabulous it was! David was a great host - from the fresh flowers, fruit, and coffee to the flexibility with our booking. We will be back!

This location is perfect. The views during the day are amazing but the sky at night is something I will remember for life! We enjoyed the hot tub and stargazed for hours.
The house was easy to find and located close to my favorite little town in Maui. Everything was immaculate and well taken care of. The beds were extremely comfortable. The owners were responsive and helpful. I know there were other people in the property but we never saw or heard them!
If I ever have the chance to come back to Maui, I will definitely stay here!

Beautiful hillside perch
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Spacious, quiet, lovely views, and a stunning pool. Host easy to coordinate with and pleasantly unintrusive. Distinctive beds raised to window height allowed extra appreciation of the vistas down the mountain. Be prepared for some steepish hairpin turns on the drive up.

Perfect escape
We wanted to enjoy Maui without all the people and this was perfect. Beautiful, tranquil, central to many things, and the little town of Makawao was perfect! David’s recommendations were fantastic.

A relaxing hideaway in Maui Up Country
This was our first time using VRBO and we found the entire experience pleasant.
The property was beautiful. The house and kitchen were very well appointed. Being off the beaten path made for a very relaxing holiday away from the usual touristy setting. Dawn and Dave were wonderful hosts.

A lovely place with some drawbacks
A beautiful home in a spectacular setting with breathtaking views. The house was immaculate.
However, it was somewhat difficult to negotiate the very high beds and we were disappointed to find only one bathroom on the same floor as the bedrooms. Also, there was an exhausting list of rules and instructions. All in all, it was a lovely few days

We enjoyed the pool, hot tub and sauna almost daily - it is like staying at a spa!
We prepared all of meals at the house and found the kitchen to be well equipped. The appliances are all in excellent condition. The beds and bedding were excellent -my husband can never find a pillow he likes, but he did here. If a good night's sleep is important to you, you will love it here.
This property is located close by some great hiking trails, about 25 minutes to the beaches and shops in Paia. The owners really made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely return!

Amazing View
We really enjoyed our stay. The view is incredible. The welcome gift basket of Hawaiian candy, as well as lemons and limes from the property, was very sweet and the personal note from David. The coffee beans were also much appreciated. Thank you David and Dawn for a wonderful stay.

Why not spend a few nights in the mountains- we are so glad we decided to! This house and property are such a hidden gem and we absolutely loved our time here. The views are breathtaking and the location is ideal when driving the Road to Hana and visiting Haleakala national park. We spent the first half of our Maui vacation here and would do it over again and would highly recommend it. David and Dawn were amazing hosts and we loved spending time in this area before heading closer to the beach. Look forward to returning someday to enjoy the views from this amazing house! Mohalo!

Beautiful home
This is a beautiful property with a breathtaking view. There was plenty of room for our 5 adults. The house had everything you could possibly need. The only thing for city folks like us, need to be aware that it is narrow and winding roads to get there. We were nervous driving after dark But again a beautiful and relaxing property.

Beautiful property and views, very clean! Perfect for our short stay on this part of the island. Not super private - you share the property with the owners and other guests, just something to note if that matters to you. That being said, the owners are very nice and friendly :)

After spending our first 6 days by the beach, our 4 day stay here was the perfect combination to have a perfect Maui visit.
