The house manager Issa is excellent! He is such a kind and patient man and will do his best to ensure all of the guests requests are met.

The home requires much more care in terms of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and guest bedrooms and bathrooms. Upkeep with the facility grounds and outside garden area requires more care as well.

L@J Modern Backpackers was a perfect holiday retreat. It was very quiet, lovely large room, good facilities; good WIFI, air conditioning. The property was clean and well maintained. I felt really at home here. there is a large kitchen you are welcome to use, with fridges to store your perishables, An excellent escape from the bustle of Dar es Salaam with beautiful quiet beaches in walking distance.

The property is not located on the beach. The beach is a 25 min walk.

Fantastic both Owner & Manager, I’m have travelled in almost 60 Countries and this are absolutely the best of the best ones, Friendliness & Happiness every days and evenings make Nice & Pleasant Customers in this place so everything are so Fantastic that You need to pinch Yourself in the arm to be aware that You really are awake !!! Then You always have Clean Fresh Air from open sea to breath, how much are not only that worth in a world like this, the beaches are in about the same class like in Zanzibar and on that can You buy daily fresh fish every day directly from the fishermen’s boats, if You wanted to have cheap ordered food could the Manager arrange that also and that food have very high quality to extremely good prices (25% of Zanzibar Price)!!! The Manager could also arrange all possible transportations from Walking that he sometimes even make Your company and followed to Motorcycle Taxi to Bajaj to cars to busses and even with boats & ferries !!! The secure lodging compound is in the village of Mwema in Kigamboni about a 20-minute walk to the lovely beach. it is 14km from the Kivukoni Ferry. The owner, Madame Msoffe, is consistently accommodating, as is her young Manager, Issa. The lodging is kept meticulously clean. There are many village shops two blocks away. The air is clean, the ocean breeze is lovely, and the area is totally safe. Bus, bajaji, and boda boda are nearby for 20 or so minute rides to the Kivukoni Ferry and the downtown Posta where all stores are available. It is a relaxing and positive experience at a very reasonable price. With extremely friendly people.

Issa is a fantastic host who will be happy to help you with anything you need. His house is located very close to a beautiful beach that has nothing to envy Zanzibar - that's right, Dar has paradise beaches too! If you want to live within the local community in a simple home and discover amazing places without so many tourists and people bothering you, issa's house is an excellent choice. I would come back again.

I loved it! Issa and Bernadette (a great cook) are beautiful people who will look after you. As others have pointed out, it is comfortable and spacious and a short walk to the beach. Set among the village, you can have an authentic experience of local life. If you'er game to hussle with everyone else, bus and ferry will get you to the city for 50 cents (provided you have a Tanzanian SIM). Or just chill...enjoy the tropics, the warm Indian Ocean...whatever you wish :)

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very professional, friendly and helpful. The property was well set up and very clean. Great value for money!

An oasis of peace very close to the chaotic city. I fell in love with his garden… With no more noise than that of the palm trees and the birds. With the beach, practically deserted, less than a 5-minute walk away… The shared room is clean and spacious, with its bathroom, also very clean. The beds have a mosquito net. Also, in the garden they have two tents where you can sleep. And his staff… The best. Benadetta and Issa are the best: always smiling, happy and willing to help you in anything. A true love… I wish you a happy life. Breakfast included, very rich: eggs, coffee, fruit... In addition to offering lunch and dinner, one can also use the kitchen to cook for one thousand shillings (50 cents of €) A place that I recommend a million percent … Thanks for everything guys.

No AC. Very hot in Dorm. Can only swim on beach at high tide because of stones. Only small shops nearby for water. Must go further for for food.
