BOOK HOTEL 神保町

It's a clean and fair accommodation with excellent location in the Jimbocho 'book town' in central Tokyo, just a few steps from a metro station which made it easy to go around from here. The hotel is nicely designed and as credit to its name, it has books all over the place - in the lobby, in the hallways, in the room. That it is very orderly is probably the best description. We also liked the beds and pillows were nicely soft, and facilities were in good condition.

Though the hotel is designed in a specific style, it somehow still felt somewhat impersonal to me. The staff also clearly struggles with English which can be a cause of some miscommunication. Early check-in and later check-out are for a fee. That aside, I guess the biggest downside of the place is that they won't hold your luggage after check-out, or not beyond noon of the check-out day anyways. So if your flight is only in the evening, you'll need to find/arrange a different scheme to keep it until your departure.

Quirky concept, good sized room, very comfortable beds and quiet for the area

Check in all a bit soulless as is done remotely so limited interaction with staff.

View from window facing the opposing walls was awful, no fresh air no light, basically you live in a room with no windows. An iron was denied at first, and provided only on the second day with the help of two desk girls and 30 minutes spent with us explaining and them searching for it in various locations inside and outside. No coffee and only green tea. Rather low room temperature and the old conditioner gave strange odour
