Hotel Huntington

Clean and spacious

We chose the location for visiting relatives and weren't really expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised and felt like I had lucked out by booking a nicer accommodation than I had expected. I liked that the hotel is set back quite a distance from the street, which is quite busy, and was quieter. The parking lot was ample and had a solid wall, which made us feel secure. The pool is probably one of the only motel pools I would be tempted to use. It's in an odd location, right in the middle of the parking lot, but the set-up is nice. This is because there is a cabana for shade and comfy patio couches and chaises. If you're just hanging out and alternating between reading and swimming, it's a pleasant afternoon. The room beds and furniture are well-chosen and don't feel like cookie-cutter modular furnishings. There are nice touches throughout. There is no breakfast, though the large room adjacent to the lobby looked like it could accommodate one. There is an elevator, besides the stairs, which I appreciated.

There are really only two entry points to the motel rooms from the parking lot, and you don't notice it when you first park. This is because there are railings along the walkways so you must enter at a single point on one side of the motel, and one point on the second side of the motel. This means you walk further with your luggage than you expect to, and the walkway along one side, while adequate, feels a bit constrained when you have luggage.

All basic conveniences were present: fridge, microwave, a/c. Quiet premises

Clean throughout with exception of a few hairs stuck to shower wall. Bed clothes a bit threadbare. Mattress worn out but not uncomfortable.Staff not especially friendly.
