Princes Street Hostel

The hostel was exactly as expected. It was very clean. Showers were great, toilets always had paper and prepared. It was pretty quiet at night and even the day, so the only thing you should prepare for, it's to have some earplugs for the occasional snorer. I could have worked on the living room area without issues. I was able to leave my luggage before check-in and after check-in. Staff managed some cold meds I had to carry around for me without problems and the staff was great! The location is great by the way, I was able to reach everything that I needed with ease and I always felt safe.

I want to make it clear, I'm not complaining about this, because the hostel is very clear on their descriptions and images so it did not take me as a surprise. Althought it's the reason of why I can't give this place a straight 10 overall. This is mostly for travelers that might not read, because it can be a little annoying if not completely deal breaking for some people, specially if they have mobility problems. 1. Hostel is in the 4th floor in a building without a lift, if you are carrying a lot of luggage, book somewhere else, or know what you are against with. I went up with a medium suitcase+backpack+meds bag. The four floors will be something you'll do every time you come back after walking across Edinburgh which has a lot of hills and stairs, take that into account. 2. No curtains on the beds so it can get a little ackward if you are managing your stuff and people want to sleep/turn the lights off. Mattress a little thin to my liking, but definitely nicer that other places I've been.

The location was wonderful and the hostel was extremely clean with spacious rooms.

Mattress pads could've been a bit thicker. We had a quad for only two people. So, we added the extra mattress and it was perfect.

The property was in a FABULOUS location, located right in the centre of downtown Edinburgh. :) It was a short walking distance to all of the monuments. Streets were well lit at night. Lots of night life. It was very clean the property, and the staff were very friendly and helpful! Loved their suggestions. Thank you Helen! Merci Marjo! ❤️ 😃
