We truly enjoyed our stay on Lake of Egypt! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, the Wi-Fi signal was strong, the two family room areas allowed us to spread out, the pool and hot tub were well cared for, the Bluetooth speakers were an unexpected but welcome touch. We were also able to rent a pontoon boat one day of our stay and our hosts met us at the dock with it. Communication with Al and Rhonda was excellent when we had questions. We highly recommend this lake home getaway!

The property was very nice, but not well stocked. We had to purchase several items that usually come standard with other places we’ve stayed. We could have used a few extra pillows for the pull out beds as well. The stairs were a bit treacherous for young ones. I would suggest a baby gate if going with kids younger than 3. Additionally the house was very clean, but the pool was a bit cloudy and needed to be vacuumed when we got there. Given all that, this place seemed a bit overpriced in my opinion.

This house was very well thought out. it had everything.... ice, filtered water, dishwasher, nice kitchen, hot tub, indoor pool, kayaks, a paddle boat. Everything is up to date and nice. We enjoyed it very much. Our kids' only complaint was that we couldn't jump from the dock into the lake to swim. But they LOVED the pool so much that it made up for it.

The house had everything we needed. The kids enjoyed the pool, but was very cool, thought the pool was heated.

Property is as described. We enjoyed the lake, pool, and hot tub. Sadly I got called away for work and had to leave a day early but would certainly return the next time we are in the area. Minor issue connecting to the wifi on the main device but connected to one of the house hot spots with no issue.

We had a great time at this lake house! There was so much to do without ever leaving the property: the indoor pool, the hot tub, the kayaks and fishing on the lake, the indoor games. There is no lack of entertainment at this vacation home. Perfect for our family getaway.

The location is great. Near all sorts of outdoor activities and the lake with some awesome fishing. The owners were great and the house was awesome.

This space had plenty of things to do and sleeping spaces were great. The kids had a blast, the adults had a chance to relax as well. Also in a great location in relation to shawnee national forest and its multitude of hikes.

Are stay in the home was great. You can't beat the pool in the hot tub. Home owners were wonderful and when the Internet went down for a bit, they brought us a hotspot even though it wasn't necessary. Amenities in the house were plentiful and would not hesitate to return.

Everything about the house, location, and management was great. Will definitely return!

The place was perfect for our family Christmas. We cam e from different parts of the country. The house was set up just right to three families with babies. The pool and hot tub were the crowning glory for the cold days. We even had a good time using the kayaks. The dining table was large are we all could eat our meals together. Could use a small card table to play games on.

Wonderful time with our kids. We are thankful for Al and Rhonda and their home that they let us visit. Always a great time.

We wanted somewhere we could get away and be “ self contained” we found exactly that in this rental the adults were able to enjoy football and conversation while the kids had fun in the pool definitely a great place to stay

Lake house was nice and our grandkids and sons and daughters in law loved the pool, hot tub and kayaks. Needs a television in the basement family room but I think the other television had recently been broken as it was sitting outside with the trash. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your house.

The home was very clean and updated. The owner kept in contact and was easy to reach. The pool was very clean and well kept, as was the home itself. We would stay again!!

This house was perfect for our group. We enjoyed it so much that we are considering coming back next year. We had 4 teenage girls and 4 moms in our group. The house had everything we wanted. The pool was a little bit chilly but the girls enjoyed it anyway. The hot tub was enjoyed by all. The hot tub flipped the breaker but Al returned our call quickly and walked us through resetting it. Since it was October, we didn’t use the kayaks, but we would have if it were warmer. The foosball table was a hit too. The house is close to Ferne Cliffe State Park where we did some hiking. The entire Lake Egypt area is beautiful. I highly recommend this house.

Recently we experienced a family loss, and this property was the retreat we needed. The location was ideal and had all the comforts of home and then some. Super clean and amenities were perfect. Thank you for giving us a place to restore and relax. Best vrbo we’ve ever rented!

The pool is great and lets you enjoy the lake side views while relaxing in a comfortable space. The location is good, only about 15-20 minutes to a grocery store. There’s also a decent Mexican restaurant 5 minutes away if you need a break from cooking. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful. We had many encounters with local wildlife. We’ll definitely stay here again the next time we want some pool time.

My family stayed here for our annual pre-back-to-school family trip. My kids are 9 and 12 and love to swim. This was a great property for us. The home is large and offers a lot --- we had fun each day without technology/screens (our goal) --- we loved swimming, boating, and playing games (some of which were supplied by the VRBO). The pool is, to quote my husband, "a legit pool". :) We were in it each day and it was amazing to my kids. We weren't able to properly enjoy the hot tub, which is also large and well-maintained (it was up to 95F when we were there...too hot for hot tub we discovered after about 2mins). The lake is HUGE - even if you don't have a boat, please rent one at the marina (2min drive away). You will not regret it. The lake has cottages on it as well as borders a national forest --- so you get a mix of beautiful homes and nature to observe. We saw bald eagles, herons, and cranes every day. On the lake, you can tube, water ski, and swim off the boat - water temp was NICE. Although there isn't a beach, there is a part of the lake that is "anchor only" where on Sunday we were 1 of at least 25boats anchored and swimming. Due to the SIZE of the lake...we were at least 100yards away from the nearest boat that day. So much fun. If you do have a boat, note that the water level near the VRBO is shallow. We asked the VRBO owner pre-booking and they quoted 2-3ft deep to us; it was a tad more shallow when we arrived (due to rainfall & being the height of summer I'm guessing). We were unable to tie our boat to the VRBO's pier as a result. However, for $25 a night we had a GREAT slip rented at the marina. COMPLETELY worth it in our minds (and after a day of boating, we could enjoy a drink and some wings :) I was not familiar with southern Illinois, which is part of the VRBO experience I like (exploring :). Although we ended up cooking all of our food on property, Marion is a close drive and is a nice size town to get food/drink supplies etc... On our way back home, we stopped for breakfast at the Vault Cafe downtown --- HIGHLY recommend. Yum. Additionally, we brought our bikes to ride the numerous trails in the area. We ran out of time (swimming due to hot temps) --- but there are multiple trails in the area. Finally, we had a couple questions for our host and they answered right away. I appreciated Al introducing himself to us (he gave us a heads up - didn't intrude on our rental space at all).

The kids loved the pool and kayak so much. They were exhausted by the end of each day. We also had the chance to visit some excellent nearby hiking spots and parks.

My family had the best time! The indoor pool was a big hit!
