I really liked the value of what you get vs what you pay. I never dealt with anyone in person, but all my questions and concerns were answered. The pool is a good size to jump in when it gets too hot. I liked that it was on the bottom floor because there was shade, but my fiancé would have preferred it if the sun was baking him while swimming.
After I booked, there was an AI sounding message I got to fill in a different link with my information. I thought it was a scam because it also warned me that they wouldn't confirm my stay without it all the while, they've already charged my credit card for the full stay. Didn't like how it went about, but I filled it in eventually and all went well.

El Méxicano offers excellent service and numerous amenities at a great value and is well located to supermarkets and restaurants in Playa del Carmen. Communication with Dewl (Do everything with love) was excellent; any issues were resolved immediately.
I will definitely stay there again and can recommend this place to any traveler who doesn’t want to stay in hotels.
The studio where I stayed was very small, with little room to store luggage, though that wasn’t really a problem for me. Unfortunately, the mattress was far too soft. Even though I am petite, I kept sinking into a hollow, which caused me back pain.
What bothered me every time I stayed at one of their accommodations was the sheer number of messages (via booking.com, SMS and WhatsApp) regarding check-out. A single message with check-out instructions the evening before check-out would have been perfectly sufficient.

Roof top was ok.
The place was very dingy. Bedding pillows and towels old and worn. Windows were very dirty and door lock was faulty so it shut behind you and locked you out. Pool area so small only 3 chairs and no loungers or room for any. Pool is between the 2 buildings so no sun really.
